2018 AFC East Divisional Future Predictions
We’ve already given predictions for the rest of the AFC’s divisions. Today, we look at the AFC East, which has been utterly dominated in recent years by the New England Patriots. The Pats have taken down the division nine years in a row. That’s a record for consecutive division wins by an NFL franchise.

Betting Odds to Win the American Football Conference East Division
- New England Patriots -600
- Miami Dolphins +700
- New York Jets +1400
- Buffalo Bills +1600
New England Patriots -600
The Patriots took care of business once again last year, posting a 13-3 record and making it to the Super Bowl, only to lose to the Eagles. The most notable offseason move from New England was trading wide receiver, Brandin Cooks, to the Rams. Wideout, Julian Edelman, was also suspended for the first four games of the season for PEDs. Malcolm Butler is gone from the defense after his infamous Super Bowl benching. Finally, running back, Dion Lewis, left in free agency, to Tennessee.
Miami Dolphins +700
After one year with Jay Cutler at quarterback – Miami has Ryan Tannehill back. Adam Gase returns for another season, but he and Tannehill will be without Jarvis Landry. The Pro-Bowl wide receiver was traded to Cleveland in the offseason. Defensively, the roster has not changed much. The issues for Miami start and end with their offensive and defensive lines. They hope to improve on their 6-10 finish last season.
New York Jets +1400
The Jets took a step backward once again last season. They finished 10-6 two years ago and narrowly missed the playoffs but have had back-to-back losing seasons since then. They drafted Sam Darold out of USC with the third overall pick in the draft. The young quarterback is poised to start the regular season as the starter, but that is not fully confirmed. New York hasn’t shaken up the roster too much from last season. Their offense certainly needs improvement, but they have a strong defense.
Buffalo Bills +1600
The Buffalo Bills made the playoff last season with a 9-7 but lost a miserable game in the first round of the playoffs to the Jaguars. The Bills moved on from quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, and drafted Josh Allen with the seventh overall pick. Like New York, the Bills are in full-rebuild mode. The offense has mostly been gutted, aside from running back, LeSean McCoy.
2018 AFC East Divisional Pick – New England Patriots -600
This is one of the divisional write-ups I left for last due to the Patriots dominance. The real question is not if the Patriots will win the division, but if there is value in the -600? I would say, there is. Though, this is undoubtedly the type of bet that isn’t ideal if you’re wagering on sports, as it ties up money for quite a while and you’re risking a lot to win a little.
However, even if Tom Brady were hit by a bus tomorrow – I still have faith that New England would win this division. They’re so vastly ahead of every other team regarding talent and coaching that this is going to be a cakewalk. If you’re genuinely interested in a long shot and have a high opinion of Ryan Tannehill, then perhaps you could take a chance on the Dolphins at +700. But this division is New England’s.
