2018 College Football Betting Preview – Team To Win The Championship
Stop me if you heard this before. Alabama is the favorite to win the College Football National Championship. Again. Since the BCS era started in 1998, Bama is the only team to win back-to-back titles (2011-2012) and their challenge in the 2018 season is to do it again. As long as head coach Nick Saban is running the show in Tuscaloosa, it will be Alabama and then the rest. As much as I would like to say otherwise, this is the landscape of the NCAAF for the present and the foreseeable future. Those tired of the Crimson Tide domination are putting their money on Clemson. Tigers are the only real force stopping Bama from going back-to-back once more.
Betting On College Football Online
Betting wise is a different scenario. Bama was just 6-7-1 against the spread last season, during their 13-1 straight up run. There will beat teams, but they don’t always cover, and that small window of opportunity is a great chance to collect against them. The other great news, if you don’t like hearing about Alabama over and over, is there are plenty of storylines for the upcoming season. How will Ohio State survived the first month of the season without head coach Urban Meyer on the sidelines? Will Jim Harbaugh finally take Michigan to the playoffs? Will the turnover chain make an appearance this season? Can I learn to write Tua Tagovailoa’s name without googling it?

Favorite Teams To Win the College Football Championship in 2018?
Alabama +200 – Bet On Bama At Sportsbetting
The recipe is the same for Alabama. An elite defense led by the 6-time College Football Champion coach Nick Saban, followed by a fierce rushing attack. Bama has always been a top team rushing the passer, and Raekwon Davis and Isaiah Buggs will be a force on the edge of the defensive line. The linebacker position is filled with soon NFL talent. Mack Wilson, Dylan Moses and edge rusher Anfernee Jennings should seal every hole up the middle.
The secondary defense will make plenty of noise with former LSU and college cornerback Saivion Smith, along with freshman Patrick Surtain on the other side. On offense, senior Damien Harris will have most of the carries out the backfield. But unlike other years, this time Alabama should have an above average passing game. Sophomore Tua Tagovailoa won the MVP award in the National Championship game last season after lighting Georgia’s defense up in the second half. He will get a chance to do it for 12 weeks this season.
You can find Tua as the favorite (+700) in the odds to win the Heisman Trophy, at Sportsbetting.ag. It doesn’t hurt to have the dynamic sophomores DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs catching balls outside the numbers. It doesn’t matter if Alabama had 12 players taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. It should be another day in the office for Saban and his regime in 2018.
Clemson +375 – Bet On Clemson At Sportsbetting
Dabo Swinney took over as the official Clemson’s head coach in 2009. He rebuilt a program known for failing to perform in the clutch. Since 2011, the Tigers have won at least 10 games every season. They have also won three College Football playoffs berths in the past three seasons, meeting with Alabama three times in a row. Twice in the National Championship game. The third time should be on the schedule in January. Clemson’s front seven is bursting with NFL talent from top to bottom. It all starts with the defensive line.
The tackle Christian Wilkins and defensive ends Clelin Ferrell and Austin Bryant decided to come back for another year before jumping to the big league. Linebacker Kendall Joseph will be the ‘mike” in the middle of the defense. He’s the new leader in town. Tre Lamar, Isaiah Simmons, Jalen Williams and Shaq Smith will come flying from left to right to make this group one of the scariest linebacker units in the nation. Last season, Kelly Bryant was the number one choice to replace Deshaun Watson as the starting quarterback.
This season that’s not a guarantee. Bryant was unimpressive throwing 2802 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2017. The arrival of the five-star freshman Trevor Lawrence put some added pressure on Swinney to make the right call at quarterback. The Tigers represent Bama’s number one challenge for another National Championship.
Ohio State +750 – Bet On Ohio At Sportsbetting
Head coach Urban Meyer won’t be on the sidelines as the Buckeyes face Oregon State, Rutgers, and TCU. His three-game suspension ends as they face Tulane in week four. Ohio State is set to win all three games of Meyer’s suspension without any difficulties. At Sportsbetting.ag bettors will find the Buckeyes -38.5 point favorites in the spread for week 1. What they can do in December and January is an entirely different tale. Ohio State lost a few key members from last year’s team that won the Big Ten title. Seven to be exact are now in the NFL.
Sophomore Dwayne Haskins will be the starter at the quarterback position. He has a better pocket presence than former QB J.T. Barrett. Although, he won’t be as good running the football. To run the football effectively, Ohio State will give most of the touches to J.K. Dobbins. He ran for 1403 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman in 2017.
Ohio State should have one of the best defensive lines in College Football, second only to Clemson. Defensive ends Nick Bosa and Chase Young, alongside tackle Dre’Mont Jones are all studs in their own way. Their problem comes up the middle. An Achilles injury sidelined linebacker Tuf Borland for the season. It could be too much of an absent when they face the big dogs in the College Football playoffs. In the meantime, the Big Ten title should stay in Columbus.
Dark Horse Team to win the College Football Championship in 2018?
Let’s forget about the favorites for a second. Who will be the squad that comes out of nowhere and get a fair shot at the National Championship? Let’s think something like Washington in 2016 or even Georgia last season. Let start with…
Michigan +1800 – Bet On Michigan At Sportsbetting
Any time you find a big school, led by a great head coach and with +1800 odds to win the title, it worth your time. Michigan will have 14 of their 22 starters back for the 2018 campaign. Yet, the game changer will be former Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson. “You know, demeanor. He’s cool. He’s kind of got that winning ‘it’ factor. He’s a really good thrower and also extremely athletic and smart. He’s one of the guys, too. He’s not an egotistical guy. He’s for the team,” said Jim Harbaugh in a recent interview with ESPN.
Harbaugh’s fourth season with the Wolverines is quite critical for his future. His stocks have been going down as his team misses chance after chance to win the Big Ten. Patterson is the reason Michigan can win the conference and get a ticket to the College Football playoffs. That’s why he’s +1800 at Sportsbetting.ag to win the Heisman Trophy. Shea could be a game changer for the Conference. It’s the first time the crazier Harbaugh has a quarterback he likes since he joined Michigan.
Wisconsin +3000 – Bet On Wisconsin At Sportsbetting
You might not appreciate the Badgers as a College Football powerhouse, but they were one win away from a College Football playoffs appearance in 2017. In 2018, they will have to meet Michigan, Iowa and Penn State. There have been easier tasks than facing those three, but Wisconsin owns one of the best rushing attacks in the nation. They won’t be favorites in the NCAAF betting lines in those games, but they will have a fair shot of coming on top.
Tailback Jonathan Taylor had quite a season in 2017. He wrote a new FBS freshman rushing record in the books with 1,977 yards and 13 touchdowns. Taylor behind one of the best offensive lines in the nation is a combination you want to bet on this season. The Badgers’ defense is another focal point to their possible success. The unit held opponents to just 13.9 points and less than 100 rushing yards per game. Don’t sleep on Wisconsin.
Miami (FL) +5000 – Bet On Miami At Sportsbetting
It felt like old times watching the Hurricanes post a 10-0 record in 2017 while dominating the conversation for a playoffs berth. It didn’t happen eventually, but it quickly showed coach Mark Richt fingerprint. Richt needs a quarterback who doesn’t turn the ball over. That’s why the quarterback competition is open between Malik Rosier, N’Kosi Perry, and Jarren Williams. Rosier threw 14 interceptions last season, and that won’t cut it to make to the playoffs in the ACC.
The Canes have speed and enough playmakers on both sides of the ball to make a splash in 2018. At +5000 they are clearly a longshot, but the Turnover Chain got here one year too early. This season might be the one where they make that leap. The 2018 College Football regular season began on August 25, and it will end on December 8, 2018. The postseason will finish on January 7, 2019, with the College Football Playoff National Championship at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
