NFL Week 8 Recap – Fitzmagic Is Back | Adam Thielen & Browns’ Head Coach
Bad beats, backdoor covers, the defective Jameis Winston showing up on Sunday and the most magnificent beard in Football, Ryan Fitzpatrick, is back in our lives. We have it all. This is the NFL betting recap for week 8. If you are new to pro football betting don’t forget to read our NFL Betting Guide.
1. You probably hate Todd Gurley
Tailback Todd Gurley doesn’t care about your fantasy team, or you weekly bet on the Rams. A couple of yards short to the end zone, the best running back in the game decided to take a knee to end the game against the Green Bay Packers. If you had the Rams -8.5 you would have won. If you had the Rams -9 it would have been a push. Gurley just decided he doesn’t care about your gambling choices. The Rams won 27-29 but the Packers covered the spread. He’s probably saving some touchdowns for the upcoming week when they face the New Orleans Saints. The Rams are a +2 underdog coming into this high profile matchup. It’s the first time all season they are dogs.
2. Fitzmagic is back
The greatest beard in the NFL is back to action. Ryan Fitzpatrick helped Tampa Bay sneak a backdoor cover against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fitzmagic replaced a horrible Jameis Winston in the second half and completing 11-15 for 194 yards and two scores. The Bucs were down by 15 points, and Fitzpatrick brought them back to tie the game. Cincinnati won the contest with a late field goal, but Tampa Bay covered as a 3.5 point underdog. Jameis Winston has thrown a league’s worst 10 interceptions, even as he missed the first three weeks of the season. Unless Fitzpatrick gets injured, I don’t think Winston will see another snap this year.
3. The Seahawks are sneaky good
That whole thing about having a rebuilding year is out of the window in Seattle. Pete Carroll and his team are aiming for a wildcard spot after winning three of their last four games. The Seahawks have the third-best total defense in the NFL. Is a Legion of Boom 2.0 coming up in the next few years? Seattle is a -2 favorite at home on Sunday against the LA Chargers. That’s a great matchup right there.
4. Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey & Cowboys’ Zeke Elliott
Washington held running backs Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey and Cowboys’ Zeke Elliott under 100-rushing yards in the last two weeks. Their latest victim was the Giants’ Saquon Barkley. It’s time give the Redskins’ defense some credit.
5. Eli Manning
Eli Manning is 112-110 in his career. That doesn’t look like a record worthy of the Hall of Fame.
6. The Colts’ runs
The Colts have run for 422 rushing yards in their last two wins against the Buffalo Bills and the Oakland Raiders. I know those are some lousy defenses, but even so, that’s impressive.
7. Adam Thielen’s 100-receiving yards
Adam Thielen has now 8 straight games with 100-receiving yards. He needs one more to break Calvin Johnson’s record. We haven’t seen a white dude dominating uncharted territory since Eminem broke into the hip-hop world in 2000.
8. The Saints on the road
So much for “the Saints are not the same on the road” saying we have been shouting for years. New Orleans is 4-0 on the road this season.
9. The Browns fired head coach
The Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson. They sent him home with his ‘impressive’ 3-36-1 record. If Cleveland fans simulate their last two and a half seasons in Madden, I’ll bet they get a better record than Jackson. He’s now 11-44-1 on his career. His career is over, right? It has to be. Oklahoma’s head coach Lincoln Riley is now the favorite to get the Browns job in 2019. Baker Mayfield and Lincoln Riley reunited in Ohio. Please make this happen.
10. Tom Brady Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers duel
Did you see the NBC preview for the Tom Brady Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers duel? I mean Patriots vs. Packers. It features Michael Jordan and is magical. The Pats are 6.5-point favorites at Sportsbetting.ag for Sunday Night.
