2018 PGA Championship Betting Odds & Tiger’s Chances To Win
With the PGA Championship coming next week at Bellerive Country Club outside of St. Louis – there is a lot of speculation on which golfer will win the PGA Championship. The tournament kicks off on August 9th and runs until the 12th. It will be broadcasted on CBS/TNT. There is still one more significant tournament left before the PGA Championship. That is the WBC Bridgestone Invitational, which kicks off this Thursday still features bigger names, such as Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Speith, and Tiger Woods. The PGA Championship odds may change based on the results of that event.
2018 PGA Championship Odds – Favorites To Win
The usual suspects are at the top of the list again when it comes to favorites to win. Woods sits right with Justin Rose at 16/1 to win at all while Dustin Johnson is the favorite to win (10/1) at Bellerive. Speith at 11/1 and McIlroy at 12/1 are in the middle of this top-five.
I’m not normally one to say the favorite, especially in golf, has an excellent chance to win, but it’s tough to think anyone can beat Dustin Johnson in this one if he manages to play his game and keep anyway from any major mistakes. The World No. 1 will have a major advantage on due to his driving distance at Bellerive, which features huge greens. This is not a course for short-hitters and Johnson’s advantage is clear in this area.

Tiger Woods – Chances To Win PGA?
There is no doubt that Tiger is still a top-10 golfer and we saw it at the Open. He had the lead on the back nine on the final day. However, Woods crumbled under pressure didn’t end up finishing the job. During his prime, we rarely saw him falter down the stretch. If he had a lead in the final round of a tournament – he usually finished the job, with hyperfocus but also, calmness.
That’s not the same Woods we saw down the stretch at the Open. His tee shots with the iron late in the tournament were the result of bad nerves. I do think Tiger has a chance to win the PGA Championship, heck, every golfer does, but I don’t like him at 16/1. Bettors have been giving sportsbooks a lot of money wagering on Tiger to win majors and other tournaments and he has yet to discover the elite play of his heyday.
Most Career Wins at PGA Championship
|5||Jack Nicklaus||1963, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1980|
|5||Walter Hagen||1921, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927|
|4||Tiger Woods||1999, 2000, 2006, 2007|
At 16/1, I’m not seeing the value necessary to make a wager on Woods worth it. If he were at 25 or 30/1, then it makes a bit more sense. This course doesn’t fit his strengths (although, it’s not necessarily a weak course for him) and there are several others with close or near to the same odds that are better wagers.
