After Minnesota played the Winnipeg Jets on Halloween night, every team had completed ten games on the new season. After every ten games this season, I will be writing about how the teams have performed if you bet $100 on them every night. I will use the data to explain the best teams to have bet on so far that season, and what teams to avoid.
Top NHL Teams
Vegas Golden Knights
New Jersey Devils
Behind the Golden Knights in second place are the New Jersey Devils. The Devils would have won you $684.64 in ten games if you bet $100 on each. The Devils have been a surprising team after last season’s finish, which earned them the first overall draft pick through the lottery. With an impressive 8-2 record, the New Jersey Devils have been underdogs in six of their matchups.
St. Louis Blues
Third place has been earned by the St. Louis Blues. The Blues lost in the second round of last season’s playoffs to the Nashville Predators. The Blues have bounced back strong, going 10-2-1, which has won them $681.72, if you bet $100 on every game. The Blues have played the most games, but are still a good team to bet on.
Bottom NHL Teams
Arizona Coyotes
New York Rangers
New York Rangers are second worst with a 4-7-2 record through 13 games. The Rangers have been a mess all around the stat sheet, but are not completely out of the playoff picture, but need to turn it around quickly. When betting $100 on each Rangers game, you would have lost $618.51.
Buffalo Sabres
Buffalo is the third worst team in terms of betting. The Sabres have been bad over the last couple of years and so far this season, things do not seem to be turning around for them. The Sabres are 3-7-2 and if you bet $100 on every game, you would have lost $506.25. The Sabres need to get support for Jack Eichel if they want to get better.
Surprising NHL Teams
Chicago Blackhawks
Edmonton Oilers
An even bigger disappointment has been the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have not been the same team that Connor McDavid led to the second round of the playoffs last season. McDavid has not put up the same stat line that won him the Hart Trophy last season. The Oilers have lost $453.58 when betting $100 on them in every game.
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins have lost $53.36 when betting $100 on them each game. The defending Stanley Cup Champions have not been able to get solid goaltending with no reliable backup goaltender. The Penguins have gone 7-5-1, but they will need to improve if they want to pull of the three-peat.
Colorado Avalanche
Colorado Avalanche finished last place in the standings last year. The Avalanche have not been a bottom feeder this season. The Avalanche would have won you $272 if you were betting $100 on them in all eleven of their matchups. The Avalanche have gone 6-5 on the season, but have frequently won as underdogs.
Los Angeles Kings
Finally, the other team that has been a shock is the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings missed the playoffs last season after Quick went down for an extended period. Now the Kings are one of the best in the league with a 9-2-1 record. The Kings have been able to win $551.47 on the season if you bet $100 on all their games. They are a good team to look to bet on through the next ten games.
