Boxing fans have been waiting for a rematch of the May 2015 bout that was a major commercial success for boxing. Two legends squared off in Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather won the fight rather easily in the minds of the judges, but it is worth noting that Pacquiao had an undisclosed shoulder injury that he sustained during training and reinjured in the fourth round.

Will A Rematch Take Place?

Manny Pacquiao has long wanted a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. It’s been a goal of his since he lost the first fight in 2015. Pac-Mac man is going to be fighting a little while longer. After Errol Spence beat Mikey Garcia, he met with Spence after the fight, where the two agreed to a match. It appears that a fight is coming in July between the two, but a date and 100 percent confirmation has not yet been established. It would easily be the biggest fight of Spence’s career and an important test for the seasoned, but legendary, Manny Pacquiao.

However, Mayweather has stated that he has no interest in Pacquiao rematch, at least not now. “You don’t have to bank on a second time. I got the job done right the first time. [I] always get it done right. Fifty times I went out there, I got the job done right, he told CNN Philippines.

This was after Pac-Man reiterated a change to Money in January 2019. And, they have had several meetings in the past few months. They have both posted training videos around the same time. Mayweather was also just in the Philippines to get some cosmetic treatment.

Right now, it does not appear that there will be a fight this year. It also might be true that Mayweather is retired, but he is not one to walk away from massive paydays. And, if this fight would happen, it would be the biggest since their 2015 clash in terms of viewership and pay-per-view dollars. It would almost certainly top the numbers and revenue from that fight.
