League Of Legends LEC 2019 Spring Playoffs Finals Betting Preview, Odds & Tips

LoL LEC European Championship

LoL LEC European ChampionshipOn Sunday, April 14, one of Europe’s top four League of Legends (LoL) teams will win a spring-season title when the newly-rebranded League of Legends European Championship series wraps the first half of its 2019 season. It’s one of the most important regions and home of elite teams, even though South Korea dominates most of the World Championships, we can certainly say that LEC brings in the best opponents for them.

Hosted by Riot Games at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, South Holland, the LEC Spring Playoffs pays out a total of € 200,000 with € 80,000 paid to the first-place finisher. Six of the world’s best League of Legends teams qualified but only four remain after first-round action.

What is the League Of Legends LEC Spring Playoffs?

The League of Legends European Championship series is the top LoL league in Europe and features 10 of the continent’s best teams. Formerly the Europe League Championship Series (EU LCS), the LEC conducts two nine-week splits annually in the spring and summer and provides bettors ample opportunities to wager on high-profile -LoL matches and tournaments. The top six teams in each of the splits qualify for playoff tournaments.

LEC Spring Playoffs Format & Results

The LEC sends three teams to the League of Legends World Championship each year and represents one of the 14 regions involved with the tournament. The winner of the summer split earns an automatic bid to Worlds and the other two bids are handed out at the Regional Finals. Teams that finish second through fifth in total championship points at the end of the summer split advance to the Regional Finals.

European Region Strentgh

In the competitive League scene, Europe is one of the strongest regions and is only one of five that receive three bids to Worlds. As a whole, it’s one of the strongest leagues in the world and features big-time esports orgs like G2, Fnatic, and Rogue. The league’s exposure and accessibility make it important to esports bettors.

How can I bet on the LEC?

The LEC is a high-profile LoL league and its matches are available to bet on at most major online sportsbooks like SportsBetting.ag, Bovada, and MyBookie.ag. Results From The LEC Spring Playoffs And Upcoming Matches

Six of 10 regular-season teams earned spring playoff bids before the field was whittled down to four when Fnatic and Splyce eliminated Team Vitality and SK Gaming, respectively, in the first round (March 29-30).

Starting Seeds – G2 And Origen

G2 eSports Logo Top Team To Win LEC 2019G2 and Origen entered the tournament as the first and second seeds and will meet in round two’s Juggernaut match (April 6). Similar to a double-elimination style bracket, the top two teams face each other early in the tournament with the winner advancing to the final. The loser plays the winner of Fnatic vs. Splyce for a chance to face the Juggernaut-match winner in the final on April 14. It’s going to be a match to remember.

Top-seeded G2 started the spring season strong with an 8-0 record across the first four weeks of action. Origen, on the other hand, was 2-4 after week three but went on to win 10 of its final 12 matches to clinch the second seed. It’s getting heated to the final matches and it’ll be well worth to watch and bet on.

The Strategic Advantage – Fnatic And Splyce

Fnatic Logo Top Team To Win LEC 2019As the third seed, Fnatic had the opportunity to choose its opponent in the first round. Fnatic chose to play fifth-seeded Team Vitality and swept them in three games. Splyce, the fourth-seed, toppled SK, 3-1, in its first-round match-up.

Bet On The Underdog

In a season filled with unpredictability, betting on an underdog in the playoffs could pay off. All four remaining teams have battled adversity and G2 is not currently playing its best. Heavy favorites at SportsBetting.ag and Bovada, G2 seems like the safe bet, but it’s never really that easy.

World Championship Performers Remain Threats

Both G2 and Fnatic are coming off stellar runs at the 2018 World Championship so expect both to make noise in this tournament. Almost all sportsbooks support these two, if you see anyone betting against them it’s your chance to make a quick buck.

G2 eSports – Greaet World’s Comeback

G2 returned only three members of its 2018 Worlds roster in 2019, but the shakeup seems to have paid off. After a surprise semifinal finish at Worlds, G2 has proved the run was no fluke. Newcomer Caps, who arrived from Fnatic, has gelled well with returners Wunder, Jankos and Perkz. The Dane claimed MVP honors a tournament-high five times at Worlds in November.

Fnatic eSports – The Reigning Champion

Fnatic is the reigning LEC Summer Playoffs champion and reached the World Championship final in 2018 where it was swept by China’s Invictus Gaming. Losing Caps to G2 hurt and as a result, there were significant growing pains early in the season. Down in eighth place with a 3-7 record after week five, Fnatic turned it around and won all eight of its remaining games to clinch the third seed.

Expected Results For G2 And Fnatic

Based on match-ups alone, Fnatic, a heavy -1.30 favorite vs. Splyce at SportsBetting.ag, would be the safer favorite to back in round two. There’s just too much experience on the Fnatic roster and they’ve performed so well as of late. Fnatic also swept Splyce, 2-0, during the regular season.

G2’s situation, on the other hand, is much more complicated. Favored heavily at SportsBetting.ag (-1.42), G2 will meet one of the hottest teams in Europe in Origen and lost four of its final six regular-season games. One of its five losses during the year came against Origen as well, so it’s far from an ideal match-up for G2.

Origen Has Nothing to Lose

Origen’s second-place finish came as a surprise to many, especially when considering how slow its start to the season was. But Origen is now one win away from the Spring Playoff final and has a chance to put the region on notice heading into the summer split.

Origen’s main-man, Mithy, has been around the block a few times and has settled in nicely with the org. The 24-year old Spaniard and former G2 player is coming off a one-year stint with Team SoloMid and has brought a wealth of experience to an otherwise green organization.

There’s no doubt Origen is the underdog–a +2.79 underdog at SportsBetting.ag, to be exact–in its round two match-up with G2, but that plays to its advantage. Origen has been an underdog all season long; nobody expects it to topple one Europe’s LoL giants. And that’s exactly why Origen is dangerous.

Fnatic as a -1.30 favorite and a -1.5 handicap is still a safe bet in the second round. Expect the 2018 Worlds runner-up to sweep a rather vanilla Splyce side on April 5 and advance to round three. In the Juggernaut match, look for Origen to continue its shocking run and topple the heavy favorites, G2. As a +2.79 underdog, Origen is not only a smart +1.5 handicap bet to make but an inviting moneyline bet.

G2 is playing uninspired League at the moment, but don’t count them out just yet. All eyes will be on a juicy G2 vs. Fnatic round three match-up and don’t think for one second that G2 and Caps won’t be up for a fight. We don’t know yet which team would be the favorite in the eyes of the bookmakers, but expect a tight and emotional 3-2 win for G2. That’s our prediction based on our experience and stats analysis.

That would set up a G2 vs. Origen rematch in the final where the latter would look to cap a storybook spring split with a title. G2, in search of revenge, will use its experience and round-three momentum to end Origen’s Cinderella run and claim a Spring Season Playoff championship. Look for G2 to clear a -1.5 handicap in this potential final if bookmakers give them one.
