Who Will Win The 2019-2020 NCAAF National Championship? Betting Lines & Odds

Betting on the 2019-2020 College Football National Championship

Four Teams In The Race To Win The National Champioship

The stage is set. The road to winning the 2019-2020 College Football National Championship has been decided by the committee after the Conference Championship weekend.

There isn’t much to debate in terms of the teams. LSU, Ohio State, and Clemson have been the best all season. Oklahoma took the spot that no one seemed to want. Utah and Georgia lost their chances in the last game.

Let’s review the possibilities of each of the four teams in the 2019-2020 College Football Playoffs.

TEAMODDS
LSU+125
Clemson+240
Ohio State+250
Oklahoma+1200

LSU Tigers +125

When the College Football season started, LSU was not amongst the top teams to be in the playoffs. They were in the middle of the pile to win the SEC. Thinking about getting in the final four sounded absurd.

The Tigers opened the season +3300 to win the National Championship back in September. Four months later, they are the favorites at +125, according to Sportsbetting.ag.

The +125 odds to win it all give LSU 44% implied probability of winning the National title. This is as good as odds are we going to get with the Tigers. If they advance to the Championship game after beating Oklahoma, LSU will open as a favorite over Clemson or Ohio State.

The four quarterbacks that remain in the playoffs are very good, but none has played better than Joe Burrow. His 48 touchdowns thrown this season are an SEC record. Four of those came in the SEC Championship game against a good defense like Georgia.

Clemson Tigers +240

I actually think the odds are giving Clemson too much respect. The Tigers haven’t played anybody good this season. They have destroyed all their opponents but the quality of the teams they have faced has to be a major concern.

Clemson averaged 51.8 points per game in the last eight games of the season, including a 62-17 trashing to Virginia. Yet, they didn’t face one single ranked team all year.

Sure, Clemson has been here before, with a coach that has won the National Championship twice. Yet, the lack of competition might end costing the Tigers when facing Ohio State in the semifinals.

The Buckeyes will be the first real test Clemson faces in 2019. While that easy schedule helped the team get into the playoffs, it might hurt them when playing against a program that can actually punch back and punch hard, I might add.

At +240, a bet on the Clemson Tigers to win the National Championship game has a 29% of becoming a winner.

Ohio State Buckeyes +250

The Buckeyes are the bet with the best value of all four teams remaining. They have the best team on both sides of the ball, in my opinion, and the committee took them out of the top spot just because they had a bad half against Wisconsin.

Ohio State had problems against the Badgers, mostly because it was the second time they faced each other this season. Wisconsin was ready from the start. However, give credit to the Buckeyes, who ended up figuring it out in the second half, playing some of their best football.

The Buckeyes averaged 48.7 points per game all season and allowed just 12.5. In an excellent Big Ten Conference, the team dominated from start to finish.

Their QB Justin Fields, who should get a lot more credit, threw 40 touchdowns and just one interception all season. Somehow his name is nowhere near the discussion of the best quarterbacks in College.

In my eyes, Ohio State is the best team in the country. At +250, the value is gigantic, considering their defense can actually stop LSU QB Joe Burrow in a potential National Championship matchup.

Oklahoma Sooners +1200

The Sooners are a team that not many consider in the same class as the other three, but be aware, they can score a lot of points.

Oklahoma opened the season +1800. Despite only four teams remain, the odds are still a longshot at +1200.

When betting the Sooners, you are practically praying for them to outscore the other team in a high scoring affair. Oklahoma averages 43.2 points per game, but they also allow 24.5 PPG, which is the highest number out of the four playoffs teams.

I like the story of Jalen Hurts. Leaving Alabama to join Oklahoma, and then, taking his new team to the playoffs while his former squad is out; it is almost poetic. Yet, it won’t be enough.

I don’t see a scenario where Oklahoma’s defense stops Joe Burrow in the playoffs. Their bet has an 8% of becoming a winner.
