It was another exciting week of NFL football where we have quite a few noteworthy headlines, including a historic upset and two rookie quarterbacks being thrown into the fire for the first time.
Mayfield and Allen
Baker Mayfield took over on Thursday Night Football after Tyrod Taylor and rallied the Browns from a 14-0 deficit against the Jets to win the game 21-17. He didn’t throw a touchdown by was far more efficient than Taylor, throwing for 201 yards on 17 of 23 attempts. Head coach, Hue Jackson, named him the starter going forward after the victory. The Browns travel to Oakland this week where they are an early underdog at +3.
Arizona’s first-round pick, Josh Rosen, also made his pro debut this week. With the Cardinals trailing against the Bears – he came into the game with an opportunity on the final drive. That ended with an interception and just 36 yards passing, but the Cardinals announced him as the starter for Week 4 at Seattle. The Seahawks are an early -3 road favorite in that one.
The Bills’ Historic Underdog Win
In fact, the Vikings didn’t stand a chance. The upset was the biggest in 23 years and indeed a shocker. The Vikings will have to get on the same page quickly as they face the Rams on Thursday Night Football. Los Angeles is an early -6.5 favorite in that contest. Early action from bettors has been heavy on the Rams.
Le’Veon Bell on the Block?
The Steelers managed to eek out a victory against the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football, but their favorite distraction, running back, Le’Veon Bell, did not suit up for the third straight week. Pittsburgh stated in the past that they would not trade Bell, but it looks as if things have changed.
They announced two days ago that they are listening to offers for Bell. MyBookie.ag has betting odds and if Bell will be traded before the 2018 NFL Trade Deadline. Right now those are odds are at -200 for Yes and +150 for No. It appears that he will likely not be on Steelers past Oct. 30.
Biggest Games In NFL Week 4
The Thursday Night Football game between the Rams and the Vikings should be the most hotly anticipated game this week. On Sunday, the Saints travel to New York to take on the Giants in a game that has a 50-point total. The Sunday Night Football game features AFC North rivals, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. The Steelers are an early -3.5 favorite in a game with a 51-point total. Finally, the Chiefs visit the Broncos an AFC West matchup on Monday Night Football. Kansas City has opened at -4.5 in that one.
