NFL week 3 full games betting preview

NFL Games To Bet On Week 3

Before looking ahead to the NFL week 3, let’s do a quick summary of the first two weeks of professional football.

So far the NFL has nine unbeaten teams, ten winless squads, five starting quarterbacks injured and then… there is the Miami Dolphins.

I can’t even describe what they are right now, but 0-16 looks very likely when December arrives. Okay. Let’s dive into the NFL week 3 betting lines.

Tennessee Titans (1-1) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2)

Titans vs. Jaguars
-125 Moneyline +105
-1.5 (-115) Spread  +1.5 (-105)
O 39.5 (-110) Total U 39.5 (-110)
Bet On Titans vs. Jaguars NFL Week 3 Game At

I don’t think there is a more qualified team in the NFL than the Titans when it comes to winning games they aren’t supposed to, just to lose the ones they should win.

We know the story, in the end, it all adds up to Tennessee as an 8-8 squad barely missing the playoffs.

When the betting line opened it was listed as a Pick’em. Now the Titans are -1.5-point favorites on the road.

Facing A Rookie Backup QB

After all, they will face a rookie backup QB in Gardner Minshew on a short week. Minshew has been solid completing 77% of his passes with three touchdowns and one interception in a game and a half.

Yet, it still is a tough ask to beat a divisional rival. The Jags also have a broken locker-room.

ESPN reported CB Jalen Ramsey and his agent asked for a trade after the loss against Houston. It’s safe to say Ramsey was not happy on Sunday.

Denver Broncos (0-2) vs. Green Bay Packers (2-0)

Broncos vs. Packers

+7.5 (-105) Spread  -7.5 (-115)
O 42.5 (-110) Total U 42.5 (-110)
Bet On Broncos vs. Packers NFL Week 3 Game At

The Broncos have been saying they should be 1-1 after the referees gave the Bears an extra second that ended in winning FG for Chicago.

It’s tough to make an argument in favor of Denver when their offense has averaged 15.0 points per game in the first two weeks of the season.

The Packers Offense

Green Bay’s offense hasn’t been good either. The Packers are averaging 15.5 PPG, but their defense has been extraordinary.

The unit gave up 9.5 PPG in the two divisional wins against the Bears and Vikings.
The betting line opened with the Packers as -9.5-point favorites at home.

The odds are now at -7.5-points, making a bet on the home team a lot more manageable.

Atlanta Falcons (1-1) vs. Indianapolis Colts (1-1)

Falcons vs. Colts
+115 Moneyline -135
+2 (-110 Spread -2 (-110)
O 47 (-110) total U 47 (-110)
Bet On Falcons vs. Colts NFL Week 3 Game At

The Colts opened as a 3-point favorite in this one, but it moved a whole point down in a matter of hours. So far, 55% of the public is betting the Falcons with the points.

Atlanta beat a banged-up Philadelphia team in Prime-Time, but it took a mighty effort from WR Julio Jones to get it done.

QB Matt Ryan

A thing to worry about is QB Matt Ryan, who has thrown five touchdowns and five interceptions in the first two weeks.

Three of those picks were against the Eagles. Indy is a good team that gave the Chargers all they can handle two weeks ago, only to lose in overtime.

However, last week they brought the Titans back to earth with a road win. The Colts might not be a playoff contender, but you don’t want them on your schedule.

Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) vs. Buffalo Bills (2-0)

Bengals vs. Bills
+6 (-110) Spread -6 (-110)
+210 Moneyline -250
O 44 (-110) Total U 44 (-110)
Bet On Bengals vs. Bills NFL Week 3 Game At

Somehow the Buffalo Bills are 2-0 after taking advantage of the dumpster fires named NY Giants and NY Jets.

The Bills get another favorable matchup in week three against a Bengals team that is in a rebuilding mode.

Buffalo opened as a -5 point favorite in this game, but the line has climbed up to -6. It might get to a touchdown difference by the time of the kickoff.

If you like the Bills in this one, this is a great time to bet on the home team.

Miami Dolphins (0-2) vs. Dallas Cowboys (2-0)

Dolphins vs. Cowboys

N/A Moneyline N/A
O 44 (-110) Total U 44 (-110)
Bet On Dolphins vs. Cowboys NFL Week 3 Game At

At this point, everything relating to the Dolphins is embarrassing. The team has allowed 102 points in the first two games of the season while scoring just ten.

Miami lost by 49 points against Baltimore and 43 against New England, both times playing at home.

On Monday Night the Dolphins sent CB Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Only Good Player In The Roster

With CB Xavien Howard as the only good player remaining on the roster, it’s tough to call the Miami Dolphins a professional football team.

Dallas is a -21.5 favorite for this game. The line has been bounding half a point over the last few hours, but by the time of the kickoff, it should be around -22 or -22.5.

The Cowboys are soon to be 3-0 after benefiting from a weak schedule.

Baltimore Ravens (2-0) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

Ravens vs. Chiefs
+7 (-115) Spread -7 (-105)
+250 Moneyline -300
O 55 (-110) Total U 55 (-110)
Bet On Ravens vs. Chiefs NFL Week 3 Game At

A 7-point spread looks slightly high for two teams that are unbeaten after two games. However, it’s clear the oddsmakers from are not buying the Ravens just yet.

In fact, the betting line opened with the Chiefs as 8-point favorites before it moved down a full point.

QB Lamar Jackson

Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson is having a great start this season with 596 yards, seven TDs, and zero interceptions. But let’s be honest, he has faced the Miami Dolphins, which we established is not a professional football team this season.

Also, the Arizona Cardinals, the team with the number one pick on this year’s draft. On the other side is Patrick Mahomes, the current league MVP is on pace to another unreal season.

Mahomes has also thrown seven TDs but 200 more passing yards than Jackson.

Pat made a WR Demarcus Robinson looked like a superstar against the Raiders last week as he posted six receptions for 172 yards and two TDs.  The Chiefs don’t seem to be missing WR Tyreek Hill much.

Oakland Raiders (1-1) vs. Minnesota Vikings (1-1)

Raiders vs. Vikings
+8 (-110) Spread -8 (-110)
+310 Moneyline -370
O 43 (-110) Total U 43 (-110)
Bet On Raiders vs. Vikings NFL Week 3 Game At

When the betting line for this game opened, the Vikings were -9.5 favorites, but since then, the number has gone south.

Minnesota is now 8-point favorites at home against Oakland. The Raiders have been better than I expected.

Sure, they just lost by 18 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but who doesn’t? Oakland started the game on a 10-0 run, but reality hit them quickly after allowing 28 unanswered points.

I’m pretty sure the Vikings are worried about QB Kirk Cousins. The 85-Million dollar QB is completing 43.8% of his passes in the first two weeks of the season.

Cousins also threw a horrible Red Zone interception against the Green Bay Packers last week. That could have put Minnesota ahead in the fourth quarter; instead, it sealed the game for Green Bay.

NY Jets (0-2) vs, New England Patriots (2-0)

Jets vs. Patriots

N/A Moneyline N/A
O 44 (-110) Total U 44 (-110)
Bet On Jets vs. Patriots NFL Week 3 Game At

For the second week in a row, the Patriots are favorites with the biggest spread of the week. Last weekend they had no problems covering as a -19.5 favorite on the road against Miami.

This week it should be something similar. The Pats are averaging 38.0 points per game during the first two weeks.

But the offense is not the headline here, the defense is. New England has allowed three points in 2019 facing the Steelers and Dolphins.

The Defensive Unit

If we want to dig a little deeper, the defensive unit has given up six points in the last three games, dating the Super Bowl win against the Rams last season.

The Jets will be on their third-string QB on Sunday. Starting QB Sam Darnold is dealing with mono and won’t be back soon.

Backup QB Trevor Siemian suffered a nasty ankle injury on Monday night and will be out for the rest of the season. Luke Falk is now the QB in charge.

We know Falk was picked with 199th selection in the 2018 draft by the Titans coming out of Washington State. That’s just about it.

Detroit Lions (1-1) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)

Lions vs. Eagles
+6.5 (-110) Spread -6.5 (-110)
+260 Moneyline -230
O 47 (-110) Total U 47 (-110)
Bet On Lions vs. Eagles NFL Week 3 Game At

The Eagles opened at -9 over the Lions, but the team sustained so many injuries on Sunday Night in Atlanta, that the betting line is now down to 6.5-points. Just look at this injury list:

  • WR DeSean Jackson (groin)
  • WR Alshon Jeffery (calf)
  • TE Dallas Goedert (calf)
  • DT Tim Jernigan (foot)
  • RB Corey Clement (shoulder)
  • LT Jason Peters (undisclosed).

All those names got injured last week against Falcons. The Lions are a team that should have won in Arizona and allowed the Cards to tie the game late.

They should have lost against the Chargers and somehow won that one. Detroit remains as one of those teams that are hard to figure out; although all signs point out that they are not good.

Bet On Panthers vs. Cardinals NFL Week 3 Game At

The matchup between the Panthers and the Cardinals is the only off the board at

The betting line opened with Carolina as a -3 road favorite, but the team announced QB Cam Newton aggravated a foot injury on Thursday night against the Buccaneers.

The Panthers didn’t clarify if Newton will be available for the game in Arizona. Let’s wait and see.

Bet On Giants vs. Buccaneers NFL Week 3 Game At

The Giants didn’t want to postpone something that was expected to happen at some point in the season.

They announced on Tuesday that rookie QB Daniel Jones will be the starter in Tampa Bay. Eli Manning’s days as a starter are over. It was due a long time ago.

Tampa Bay will get to this matchup with ten days of rest after beating Carolina during the TNF matchup in week 2. The line opened with the Bucs as a touchdown favorite and it hasn’t moved since.

Houston Texans (1-1) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (1-1)

O 48 (-110) Total U 48 (-110)
Bet On Texans vs. Chargers NFL Week 3 Game At

Los Angeles is coming off a terrible loss against Detroit last week. The Chargers opened as a -3 favorite for this featured AFC matchup.

Every time the Red Zone channel was on the LA vs. Detroit game, the Chargers were about to score, and somehow, they lost.

Houston struggled against the Jaguars last week, and it took a last-minute goal-line stand to seal the victory.

What worries me about the Texans is the amount of hits QB Deshaun Watson gets weekend after weekend.

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2) vs. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)

Steelers vs. 49ers
+6.5 (-110) Spread -6.5 (-110)
+235 Moneyline -275
O 43 (-110) Total U 43 (-110)
Bet On Steelers vs. 49ers NFL Week 3 Game At

Just like many teams, during the weekend the Steelers lost their starting QB for the rest of the year.

Ben Roethlisberger will sustain elbow surgery and will be sidelined between five to six months. Second-year QB Mason Rudolph will be the starter from now on.

On Monday, Pittsburgh traded for DB Minkah Fitzpatrick. The move only suggests the team is not ready to throw the towel this season.

It also says they believe Rudolph can lead them back to playoffs contention and eventually become the QB of the future.

On the other hand, quietly the 49ers are 2-0 with wins over mediocre teams like the Bucs and Bengals.

To be fair, San Francisco can only play whatever is in front of them. Both victories came by at least two touchdowns difference.

New Orleans Saints (1-1) vs. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)

Saints vs. Seahawks
 +4.5 (-115) Spread  -4.5 (-105)
 +175 Moneyline  -210
O 48 (-110) Total U 48 (-110)
Bet On Saints vs. Seahawks NFL Week 3 Game At

The Saints won’t have QB Drew Brees for the next six weeks due to a thumb injury suffered against the LA Rams during the weekend.

New Orleans made an effort to retain Teddy Bridgewater as a backup during the offseason, and now it looks like a great move. Teddy can keep the team in contention before Drew gets back to action.

Seattle opened as a 5.5-point favorite in this game, and it has moved one point down since. The Seahawks are 2-0, but those wins look shady.

The team barely beat the lousy Bengals in week one and faced a Ben Roethlisberger-less Steelers team in week two.

Saints vs. Seahawks Game Date

  • Date: Sunday, September 22, 2019 | 4:25 PM ET

Los Angeles Rams (2-0) vs. Cleveland Browns (1-1)

Rams vs. Browns
+6.5 (-110) Spread -6.5 (-110)
+235 Moneyline -275
O 43 (-110) Total U 43 (-110)
Bet On Rams vs. Browns NFL Week 3 Game At

The betting line for the game between the Rams and Browns hasn’t moved since it opened.

What has varied a little is the price, but other than that, it has stayed the same.
The total for this one looks a little high.

Both teams have good enough front sevens to make this game a low-scoring affair. The Rams defense should have a field day against Browns’ awful offensive line.

But also, the Browns defense has the second-most sacks in the league with eight, after two games.

Rams vs. Browns Game Date

  • Date: Sunday, September 22, 2019 | 8:20 PM ET

Chicago Bears (1-1) vs. Washington Redskins (0-2)

Bears vs. Redskins
-4 (-110) Spread +4 (-110)
-200 Moneyline +170
O 41.5 (-110) Total U 41.5 (-110)
Bet On Bears vs. Redskins NFL Week 3 Game At

The Bears are lucky not to be 0-2. Their offense has the third-fewest total yards after two weeks in the NFL.  Only two teams have been worse in terms of yards:

  • NY Jets
  • Miami Dolphins.

This betting line moved half a point after opening with Chicago as a -4.5 road favorite.

Washington has dropped the two first game of the season against divisional opponents, and a third loss looks a real possibility.

If they don’t start to show something better, we could be witnessing Jay Gruden’s last days as a Redskins coach, which is not a bad thing at all.
