NFL WEEK 2 GAMES BREAKDOWN

It’s great to have football back. Six underdogs not only covered the spread in Week 1 but won their games outright.

In Week 2, there will be six divisional matchups and a fantastic primetime game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

Let’s dive in.

NFL Week 2 Games & Betting Odds

This is what you need to know about Week 2 of the 2020 NFL Season. Let’s take a look at the odds and line movement for each of the games.

Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) Vs. Cleveland Browns (0-1)

Rookie QB Joe Burrow looked OK in his debut against the Chargers. He almost had a game-winning drive, but a penalty from AJ Green took away a go-ahead touchdown. Cincinnati ultimately missed a short kick to tie the game afterward.

Burrow will have three days to prepare for Cleveland. The Browns also lost in Week 1, but that was expected. The Ravens are one of the best teams in the NFL. Odell Beckham Jr. had only 22 yards on three catches. He also had two key drops, and Cleveland turned the ball three times against Baltimore.

The Browns have won three of the last four meetings against the Bengals, but Cincinnati won the last meeting.

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) Vs. Tennessee Titans (1-0)

Gardner Minshew’s Week 1 stat line was insane. He completed 19 of 20 passes for 173 yards and three scores. That’s a 95% completion percentage as his team surprised the Colts for an upset victory.

The problem is the Titans have won seven of the last nine series meetings. RB Derrick Henry had 31 carries Monday Night in Denver. We knew he was going to be most of their offense, but 30+ carries is a lot.

NY Giants (0-1) Vs. Chicago Bears (1-0)

QB Daniel Jones looked great all game until he threw that boneheaded interception in the endzone. He helped his team move the ball up and down against a fearless Steelers’ defense. All that with zero help from his run game. RB Saquon Barkley averaged 0.4 yards per carry against Pittsburgh.

QB Mitch Trubisky was horrible all game against the Lions. Then suddenly, in the fourth quarter, he became competent, throwing three touchdowns to help his team steal a win against a divisional rival.

Trubisky still completed less than 56% of his passes.

Public: 60% is with the Giants +6.

Denver Broncos (0-1) Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

Watch out for Steelers RB Benny Snell, who had 113 yards in 19 carries against the Giants on Monday Night. Starting RB James Conner didn’t play the second half due to a sprained ankle. He’s questionable to face the Broncos.

Broncos’ RB Phillip Lindsay suffered a turf-toe injury against the Titans. He will likely be a game-time decision, but Denver has Melvin Gordon as the other back. He had 78 yards and a touchdown in 15 carries. Gordon also fumbled once.

Public: 68% is with the Steelers -6.5.

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) Vs. Dallas Cowboys (0-1)

Matt Ryan is the king of garbage time. He threw for over 450 yards and had two players with over 100 receiving yards. Yet, his team lost by double digits.

Dallas is dealing with offensive line problems. They also lost TE Blake Jarwin (season-ending injury) and LB Leighton Vander Esch for the next few weekends. Plus, it seems Mike McCarthy can’t call successful plays inside the red zone.

Public: 55% is with the Cowboys -5.

Detroit Lions (0-1) Vs. Green Bay Packers (1-0)

Even if Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes against Minnesota, the Packers are a running team now. Green Bay ran for 158 yards and had the ball over 40 minutes. This will open many options for Rodgers in the passing game.

Detroit remains poorly coached. The Lions missed receiver Kenny Golladay and rookie CB Jeff Okudah against the Bears. Then, during the game, they lost CBs Desmond Trufant and Justin Coleman. Keep an eye on all of these injury updates for the meeting in Green Bay.

Minnesota Vikings (0-1) at Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

Is it too early to freak out? The Vikings and Colts were odds-on favorites to win their division, but one of them will start 0-2.

The Vikings have a completely new defense, which allowed 43 points in the first season’s game.

The Colts recorded 445 total yards against Jacksonville, didn’t punt once, and still lost. And Philip Rivers already threw two interceptions, one trying to take the lead in the fourth quarter. That’s the Philip Rivers experience. Chargers fans will tell you.

In addition, Indy just lost RB Marlon Mack (Achilles) for the season.

Public: 58% is with the Vikings +3.

Buffalo Bills (1-0) Vs. Miami Dolphins (0-1)

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions on Sunday, including one in the end zone late in the game. It was the classic backdoor cover until Fitzpatrick became his old self.

Miami couldn’t stop Cam Newton’s RPO option, and now they have to deal with another running QB. Josh Allen ran for 57 yards and a score against the NY Jets. But he threw for 312 yards and two other touchdowns. Allen is becoming a handful for defenses.

Public: 93% is with the Bills -5.5.

San Francisco 49ers (0-1) Vs. NY Jets (0-1)

Facing the Jets is the perfect recipe for the Niners to bounce back. New York was the worst team in Week 1, and it wasn’t even close.

San Francisco is missing talented receivers. Rookie WR Brandon Aiyuk didn’t play on Sunday against Arizona, and Deebo Samuel (toe) is on IR. TE George Kittle suffered a leg injury against the Cardinals in the first half, but he did return.

Jets’ RB Le’Veon Bell left the game against Bills with a hamstring injury. Just weeks ago, Bell told reporters the narrative of his hamstring was not real.

Public: 68% is with the Niners -6.5.

LA Rams (1-0) Vs. Philadelphia Eagles (0-1)

I can talk about the Rams beating the Cowboys, or you can see Aaron Donald destroying their offensive line in the tweet below.

The Eagles missed three starting players in the offensive line and allowed eight sacks on Carson Wentz. Now they have to deal with Donald and his unreal strength. It doesn’t look great for Philadelphia.

Carolina Panthers (0-1) Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)

Tom Brady looked bad against the Saints. He missed throws, made poor decisions, and couldn’t compete with the NFC South’s best team.

Luckily for the Bucs, they get Carolina next. The Panthers surrendered 372 total yards against the Raiders in week one. Their defense lacks talent across the unit.

It is the perfect game to bounce back for Tampa Bay.

Washington Football Team (1-0) Vs. Arizona Cardinals (1-0)

It’s going to be fun to watch how the Cardinals offensive line handles the Redskins’ insanely talented defensive line. Washington has five first-round draft picks in the D-line. They sacked Eagles’ QB Carson Wentz eight times last weekend.

Arizona had one of the biggest wins of the week by beating San Francisco on the road. Last year, Murray was sacked a league’s high 48 times. Against the Niners, he was sacked only twice.

It’s a good chance to see if the Cardinals’ offensive line is for real.

Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) Vs. LA Chargers (1-0)

Chiefs Vs. Chargers Breakdown

Kansas City has beaten the Chargers in 11 of their last 12 meetings. The Chiefs will have ten days to prepare for this matchup while the Chargers barely escaped Cincinnati with a win.

Los Angeles offense didn’t look impressive against the Bengals. Yet, Kansas City looked like they are in mid-season form in their win against Houston. I don’t see how the Chargers will keep up with Mahomes and Company.

Public: 94% is with the Chiefs -8.5.

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) Vs. Houston Texans (0-1)

In 2019 these two teams met, and it was not close. The Ravens destroyed the Texans 41-7 as Lamar Jackson threw four touchdown passes.

Baltimore seems to be the same offensive force as last season, while Houston looks weaker. The trade involving WR DeAndre Hopkins weakened the Texans, and it was clear in the opening game against Kansas City.

Houston should bounce back eventually, but not this Sunday. Starting the season against the two best teams in the AFC is a schedule nightmare.

New England Patriots (1-0) Vs. Seattle Seahawks (1-0)

Patriots Vs. Seahawks Breakdown

The game of the week will be at CenturyLink Field. The New England Patriots showed a reliable offensive performance under Cam Newton in Week 1, without wowing anybody. They did what they had to and left Gillette Stadium with a win against Miami.

Newtons’ 75 yards in 15 carries, alongside his two touchdowns, was a vintage Cam performance.

Against Seattle is not going to be as simple. The Seahawks have played the RPO option with Russell Wilson and will be ready for Newton.

But also, whatever Newton can do, Russell Wilson can do better. Wilson recorded 322 yards and four touchdowns against Atlanta last week. He missed four passes as his team blew out the Falcons.

This is the first real test for the new Patriots.

New Orleans Saints (1-0) Vs. Las Vegas Raiders (1-0)

There were two surprising things about New Orleans in Week 1. First, how good their defense looked against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. And second, how they didn’t need a great version of Drew Brees to beat Tampa Bay.

The Raiders will present a different challenge. RB Josh Jacobs had 93 yards in 25 carries, but his three touchdowns were the day’s highlight. Of course, New Orleans’ defense is no joke, unlike what Carolina showed in Week 1.
