2019 Penn State Nittany Lions Schedule Analysis
Penn State will have time to warm up as the season goes along. The start has three home games scheduled against good but not great competition.
The Lions open against Idaho, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. Of course, the game against the Panthers is the most challenging from those three.

The issue for Penn State’s offense is the only experienced guy outside the numbers is KJ Hamler.
Recruited Classes Lack Experience
There is talent over the latest recruited classes, but none of the players are known.
The backfield has the same problem. The number one running back position is anybody’s to take. Sophomores Ricky Slade, Journey Brown and C.J. Holmes will share carries until somebody takes a step forward.
Last season Penn State led the nation with 3.6 sacks per game, and they have the personnel to do it again in 2019.
Defensive linemen Yetur Gross-Matos and Robert Windsor combined for over 15 sacks last season and both are back.
The middle of the defense is also covered under LB Micah Parsons, who is an NFL prospect.

Additionally, two veterans will be in the secondary defense.
