Pacquiao Betting Odds Analysis
There is a lot to unpack here, as there are many great boxers on that list that everyone would like to see fight Pacquiao next.
Favorite To Box Against Pacquiao Next: Errol Spence
We have a clear favorite in Errol Spence at -150. If Spence beats Shawn Porter on Sept 28th, then he will be in line to face Pacquiao.
Spence tried to make this fight happen after Pacman defeated Adrian Broner earlier this year by approaching Pacquiao in the ring after he defeated Broner.
I think we would almost have to see Pacquiao take on Spence if he defeats Porter, which I believe is a likely result. Though, Pacquiao is now at the age where he is taking fights that he wants.
A Great Boxing Match That Is Hard To Turn Down
It’s hard to see him turning down Spence Jr. if the payday is right, which it likely will be.
However, Pacquiao may not fight Spence until the second half of 2020, which means he will fight someone else before him. A Spence-Pacman fight is bound to happen at some point if both guys keep winning.
Will Pacquiao Fight Spence Next?
I’m not sure there is a lot of value at taking him at -150, as I don’t see him as his next opponent.
Next Best Boxer – Amir Khan
There has been quite a bit of chatter surrounding Manny taking on Amir Khan at +250. I am skeptical this fight gets made as it’s an awful one on paper and a contest where Pacman would be a heavy favorite.
There have been rumors of this fight taking place in Saudi Arabia. However, that doesn’t spell “PPV buys” for American audiences; which are the ones that matter most.
Should You Bet On Khan To Be Pacquiao’s Next Opponent?
Khan at +250 is a decent price for a fight that still could happen.
An Interesting Choice With Crawford
Terence Crawford at +500 is another intriguing possibility.
It seems this a fight that neither men are interested in at this point. Even though it would sell millions of PPVs and make them both a lot of money.
Crawford seemed to have no interest in fighting Pacman and has disrespected him in the past, stating,
“He’s not a champion in my eyes. He doesn’t have the super belt. That’s the champion in my eyes.”
Will Pacquiao Fight Crawford Next?
Even at +500, I don’t see this fight happening.
An Underdog With Garcia
One guy not on the list who is a possibility to fight Pacquiao is Danny Garcia. He’s the next best welterweight not named Spence Jr. or Crawford.
He’s a former titleholder and an excellent boxer. It would be a great fight and a superb build-up for his fight against Spence.
What About Floyd Mayweather as Pacquiao’s Next Opponent?
It’s the fight everyone wants to see, even after Mayweather decisively beat Pacquiao back in May 2015.
However, let’s not forget, he had an injured shoulder in that fight and was denied any inflammatory medicines before the bout began.
Yes, Mayweather is retired, but he was retired in 2008 and came back to fight a whopping 11 more times.
Although the situation now is much different. He’s much older. He doesn’t appear to need money as he did in 2008.
It’s tough to see him risking his legacy to take on a Pacquiao that looks better than he was a few years ago. Mayweather didn’t appear to be in fighting shape at ringside, and he got out of there quickly after the fight was over.
Will Pacquiao Fight Mayweather Next?
Although a +2000 payout may seem enticing, I don’t see this fight happening. He may face Floyd again, but won’t be his next opponent.
