Random Call From President Trump To Vikings’ Kirk Cousins After Week 5 Win

President Trump Calling Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins Gets Unexpected Call From POTUS After Week 5 Victory

Kirk Cousins had an unexpected turn of events after the Vikings won their Week 5 game against the Giants 28-10.

Following the regular NFL season game, Kirk picked up his phone to get congratulated by none other than the President of the United States himself.

Cousins Outstanding Performance Deserved Praise

It appears President Trump was very impressed with Kirk’s performance and thought it was appropriate to congratulate him. During the game, Cousins completed 22 of 27 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns.

What Was Said On The Call?

What we are all wondering is how the conversation went between Cousins and Trump. Luckily, the quarterback revealed a few interesting details during a press conference on Wednesday.

Usually, quarterbacks only get presidential phone calls if they win the Super Bowl. That’s why Cousins was surprised and skeptical when he found out president Trump was trying to get him on the phone. He even thought he was a victim of a prank.

During the conference Cousins said,

“My agent just texted me and said, ‘Hey, call this number, the White House reached out to me and just wanted you to call this number’ I said, ‘Are you serious?’ Thinking it was a joke. I was going to call some prank number. And he said, ‘No.'”

The number he was supposed to call was, in fact, a direct number to connect him to the White House. That’s how the call got started between Cousins and Donald Trump.

“I just called him on the bus heading to the airport, and I didn’t know,” Cousins said. “I was just calling the White House, and they said, ‘Hold for the President.’ It was just a 30-second call saying congratulations…. Very out of the blue. Very random.”

Paging The President

As Trump is known for his political and media scandals, Cousins affirmed he didn’t want politics brought into this. He clarified that he would return a phone call from any president regardless of their political affiliation.

“When the president calls, I don’t care who it is, left, right, whatever, down the middle,” Cousins said. “And if he says, ‘Call me,’ I’m going to give him a call and see what he wants.”

A fun fact is that Cousins and Trump met before when they played golf together in 2017.

Will Trump be calling another quarterback during the rest of NFL season? It would be interesting if there were any bets on what quarterback will be the next to get this unexpected call.
