Super Bowl Breaks Betting Records (Again)

March 2021 Safest Betting Sites
Wagering on Super Bowl LI at Nevada sportsbooks has once again broken records. Gamblers bet just under $138.5 million, which topped last year’s big game by about 5 million dollars. The betting handle on the Super Bowl has climbed almost continuously in recent years, with one slight hiccup in the amount wagered in 2014 and 2015.
Did Vegas Sportsbooks Profit?
They did. Action on both sides was relatively between the Falcons and the Patriots. It was a good day to have the vigorish for the sportsbooks, but they did stand to win more if the Falcons the won game outright or covered the +3 and if the game stayed under. The total going far over anything that closed, but most bets came in on the over.
Their betting handle was $138,480,136 for this year’s Super Bowl. They ended up winning $10,937,826.
What About Offshore Sportsbooks?
It’s tough to say, the offshore books in total took considerably more money (billions of dollars) than what was bet in Nevada. The over and a Patriots cover were likely the worst outcome for most online sportsbooks. Although, each shop is different.
Thanks again for all of the great Super Bowl action! Public with nice win overall. Congrats! Now go bet basketball> https://t.co/gLbjpD3yoh
