The sports media company theScore, Inc is the latest corporation to aim to get into the sports gambling world. theScore will develop and launch an app in 2019 where fans can bet on. We know theScore as a media company that gives scores and breaking news about sports to fans on its app and websites. That same app will feature odds and betting possibilities for their audience.

The company has scheduled the launch for mid-2019. They will be partners with Bet.works in an exclusive nationwide multi-year agreement. Bet.works will provide the sports betting platforms and all the tools to get the app going. “This is a transformational moment for theScore, becoming the first media company in North America to announce its plans to launch online and mobile sports betting in the United States,” said the CEO of theScore.

Issues With The NJ Division Of Gaming Enforcement

The only issue surrounding the deal is the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement still has to approve the app. New Jersey is one of the states that offer legal mobile gambling. Draftkings right now dominates the market. The Division of Gaming Enforcement said that 72% of the total money bet on sports in NJ during November came via online and mobile platforms.

“This quarter also saw the legalization of sports betting in the United States, which presents an exciting opportunity for us. The state-by-state roll-out of this, and the different models being explored within each individual state, means the US sports betting landscape remains a fluid one”, Levy added. “theScore is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this opportunity thanks to our mobile sports expertise, combined with our large and highly-engaged audience.”

TheScore represents a serious competitor to Draftkings and FanDuel Sportsbooks. The media company has over 4-Million active users in their sports app. They will feed their massive audience with sports betting opportunities as soon as the app is running. They also have over 1 Million Instagram followers and 3.4 Million Facebook users. The app is not only a good chance for theScore to separate themselves from the rest of the media outlets, but also for more people to know about Bet.works. There isn’t really much information about the Bet.works, other than their site is announcing a press release is coming soon.

He oversees all aspects of the company interactive gaming business, including the launch of the mobile betting business.
