Nevada Betting Handle Down in April
Legal Sports Report gives us the numbers on Nevada’s betting handle from April. Last year’s numbers had the amount bet in April at $292 million. This year, the sportsbooks took in $287 million. In March 2017, they experienced record highs in betting handle.
Sportsbooks profited $15 million in April. The numbers were not as good as last year’s handle, but historically they’re fantastic. The bookies broke an all-time high in win for baseball ($10.16 m) and second largest betting handle for MLB at $119.5 m wagered.
Bill Introduced to Legalize Sports Betting
Last week, a bill was introduced by Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) to allow states to decide whether to legalize sports betting. The bill would overturn the current law, PAPSA, which was instituted 25 years ago.
The GAME Act, is short for the Gaming Accountability and Modernization Enhancement Act. It is unlikely the bill goes anywhere, but it’s the first bill to be introduced federally in quite some time that legalizes sports betting.
BetFair Approves Wagers on Drone Racing
Drone racing is now available for wagering at UK betting exchange, Betfair, says CalvinAyre.com. The Drone Racing League (DRL) has struck a deal with the UK operator. They will be offering wagers on the Allianz World Championship circuit on June 13.
Drone racing has risen in popularity in recent years. Betfair isn’t the first site to offer betting markets on drone racing, however. Pinnacle Sports was the first site to provide odds for drone racing.
