New Jersey Sports Betting Comes to a Head

The Garden State has fought to legalize and regulate sports betting within the state for many years now. Currently, the Professional Amateur Sports Prohibition Act (PAPSA) prohibits states from enacting laws that legalize sports betting

Legal Sports Report informs readers that the case will receive new life or go back to square one based on Monday’s decision. Based on the Solicitor General’s recommendation back in May – it seems unlikely the High Court will grant New Jersey an appeal.

The results of the case will be revealed this coming Monday. New Jersey will either have a court case to fight or they will be back to square one in their fight for legalized sports betting.

Maryland Conference Promotes Sports Betting

The Maryland Reporter covers an event this week at Maryland Live! Casino that is pushing for legalized sports betting. Geoff Freeman, the president of the American Gaming Association (AGA) said the demand for regulating sports betting has “never been greater.” State officials including those running the lottery, are also supportive of legalization.
