Connecticut Passes Bill for Future Sports Betting
As reported by Legal Sports Report, the state legislature has passed a bill that could legalize sports betting in the future. The bill is part of a larger package that would add another tribal casino. It would also increase off-track betting in the state.
The bill is not challenging federal law as New Jersey is trying to do at the Supreme Court level. It is unlikely their case will be taken up by America’s highest court, however. They are the seventh state to introduce sports betting legalization bills in 2017.
Pennsylvania House Passes Omnibus Gaming Bill with DFS Regulation
The gambling expansion in the bill would be PA’s largest since 2004 according to USNews.com. Many bills have been introduced in the state in recent years looking to expand gaming, but none have made it Governor Wolf’s desk. This bill has the best shot in quite some time to be passed into law, but there is still hurdles ahead.
The bill is headed to the Senate, where changes are expected. The bill, H 271, has a tax rate at 19 percent. If it would go into effect, it would be the highest tax rate for DFS operators in states where it is currently regulated. Daily fantasy sports contests will be available for those in the state 21 or older.
The bill has lots of other issues, including VGTs and tax rates for online gaming. DFS regulation will almost certainly be a part of the bill, but there is still a strong chance this bill doesn’t get passed. Pennsylvanians can currently play at all DFS sites, but their operations are still in a legal grey area.
BetFair Approves Wagers on Drone Racing
Drone racing is now available for wagering at UK betting exchange, Betfair, says CalvinAyre.com. The Drone Racing League (DRL) has struck a deal with the UK operator. They will be offering wagers on the Allianz World Championship circuit on June 13.
Drone racing has risen in popularity in recent years. Betfair isn’t the first site to offer betting markets on drone racing, however. Pinnacle Sports was the first site to provide odds for drone racing.
