Walters had been awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of insider trading amongst other charges. The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that the famous sports bettor has been sentenced to five years in prison and a must pay a $10 million dollar fine. It is estimated that he made 43 million off insider information from former Dean Foods Co. Tom Davis.

Walters leaves behind a successful business empire, mostly centered in Las Vegas and the surrounding area. He owns auto dealerships, golf clubs, and other businesses. Ultimately, Walters was a victim of his own greed. He will enter prison before his 70th birthday in November.

Baseball Betting Records Broken in Nevada

As reported by Legal Sports Report, Nevada sportsbooks won $15.9 million last month. The clear majority of this money, $14.9 million, to be exact, was won on MLB baseball. The sportsbooks took in $207.1 million in betting handle on MLB.

The betting handle (amount wagered by the public) was historic. It was the most for baseball in any single month in Nevada’s history, and only the second time the handle has been more than $200 million in a single month.
