2018 Belmont Stakes Betting Preview and Predictions – Expert’s Picks

The Belmont Stakes are almost here as the series of Triple Crown races come to an end this Saturday. There is a lot more excitement surrounding this race than usual, as we have a horse that has a chance at history in Justify. The Bob Baffert trained horse already took down both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes and now has his eye on the Belmont Stakes. The track has been called “The Test of a Champion” for a reason.

Is Justify Worth A Bet At -110?

It seems so from our perspective. Lots of horses have a tough time winning the Belmont Stakes, even after taking down the Derby and the Preakness. However, it’s quite hard. Only two of the last 16 Belmont Stakes’ winners have been able to win the Preakness.

But, Justify, like a previous Triple Crown winner, American Pharaoh, seem to play by different rules. In some ways, this horse looks to be improving. Certainly, there are other bets worth considering when it comes to betting the Belmont Stakes, but Justify seems quite worthy of betting $110 to win $100, based on his pedigree and talent surrounding him, alone.

Hofburg +450 – 2nd Top Pick

Hofburg is firmly beyond Justify when it comes to winning the race, but he’s 2nd in the minds of the oddsmakers to win this one. This horse has a real shot to win the race. He was held out of Preakness and hasn’t raced much. Hofburg has a Hall of Fame trainer and an excellent jockey. If there is an upset in this one, it most likely going to be the Hof.

Bravazo +750 – For The Trifecta

I don’t like this horse to win as much as I like him to place. So remember him when you’re betting trifectas or other exotics. He’s already been close to pool position in the Derby (sixth) and in the Preakness (second). I like this horse somewhere in the top two.
