The NBA Playoffs are set for a busy Wednesday night with four games are on the board. Two games will look for a winner to break a 2-2 series tie. The other two matchups could have the winner move on to the 2nd Round. One of the elimination games is between the Jazz and the Thunder. Oklahoma City returns home down 3-1 in the series. Utah Jazz vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Predictions
Both the Thunder and the Jazz finished the regular season at 48-34. Oklahoma City had the tiebreaker over Utah, so they earned home-court advantage in the second round. The Thunder were not able to take advantage of having home court though, as they lost Game 2 in OKC. Here is a breakdown of how the series has gone so far.
Oklahoma City took Game 1 by a score of 116-108. Donavan Mitchell scored 27 points and gathered in 10 boards. Paul George scored 36 to lead the Thunder in points. Russell Westbrook got a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds.
The Jazz were able to steal Game 2 with a come from behind victory. Utah was able to outscore Oklahoma City 28-16 in the fourth period in route to a 102-95 win. Donovan Mitchell, Ricky Rubio and Derrick Favors each combined for 70 points. Paul George, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony combined for 54 points.
Game 3 went back to Utah and the Jazz delivered a 115-102 to their home fans. George led the Thunder in points with 23. Ricky Rubio stepped up big for the Jazz and had a triple-double. Rubio had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles each put up 20+ points. Game 4 was held only a few days ago in Utah. The Jazz were able to win 113-96. George led the Thunder again in points with 32. Westbrook put up a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Mitchell had 33 points. Joe Ingles put up 20 points to help the Jazz secure the lead.
Utah Jazz +3 ½ (-115) at Oklahoma City Thunder -3 ½ (-105)
The Thunder have been missing one of their defensive anchors since late January. Andre Roberson had season-ending surgery because he ruptured his left patella tendon. Thabo Sefolosha had season-ending surgery as well for the Jazz.
Oklahoma City has lost three straight games in this playoff series. Losing four in a row in a playoff series is very rare. The Thunder have a chance to keep their playoff hopes alive with a victory in front of their home crowd. I do not think that the Thunder will lose their fourth straight game. In addition to the fact that they are in front of their home fans, I believe Oklahoma City has a legitimate chance to win Game 5.
The Thunder are favored by 3 ½ points in this game, which I believe is a reasonable number. If Oklahoma City is barely winning near the end of the game, they will be shooting free throws which could push them over the spread. Oklahoma City also has the better payout at -105. I am taking the Thunder against the spread on Wednesday night.
