Alabama Vs. Auburn | College Football Betting Lines & Pick – Week 14

Alabama At Auburn Betting Lines & Odds - College Football Week 14

5 Alabama Vs. 15 Auburn College Betting Preview

The Iron Bowl will have playoffs’ implications written all over the place. Alabama needs to take down their most hated rival, the University of Auburn, to keep their playoffs chances still alive.

A win by Auburn means two things. First, it will increase their chances of being in a high-profile bowl. Second, and this is the most important one, it will eliminate Bama from any College Football Playoffs contention.

Let’s dive into the 2019 Iron Bowl.

What The NCAAF Odds Say About The Alabama vs. Auburn Matchup

Alabama opened -3.5 on the road against Auburn, and the line has danced around those lines. It has been as high as -4 and as low as -3.

53% of the betting public is trusting Bama to cover the spread in this game.

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s Edge vs. Auburn

Bama’s chances to be in the College Football Playoffs don’t really depend solely on them, but that’s ok. The team is in good shape. They need to beat Auburn and wait for LSU to take care of business against Georgia.

Alabama recently destroyed the Western Carolina Catamounts 66-3 in a game that doesn’t add much street credit. The game did help the offense get back into rhythm after losing QB Tua Tagovailoa for the season.

Loss Of QB Forces Bama To Shift Strategies

Backup QB Mac Jones threw for three touchdowns in ten passes completed. He attempted 12 in total. Jones is likely to throw so much more against Auburn. The team will need him to make plays in crunch time.

Bama ran for 231 rushing yards against Western Carolina, and despite the result doesn’t say much, the approach is interesting. After the loss of Tua, I’m expecting the Tide to become a heavy running team from now on.

That has been the style of Nick Saban all these years. With Tua he shifted it a little bit, just because Tagovailoa was too talented not allow him to throw the ball down the field.

The Auburn Tigers’ Edge vs. Alabama

The Tigers are a good team, but not good enough to beat ranked programs. Their three losses have been against Florida, LSU, and Georgia.

The contest against Alabama is in that category, but the Iron Bowl is always a game apart. The rivalry is too big to consider the matchup just another game in the calendar.

Nix Can’t Win Against Bama’s Defense

Auburn’s best chance comes running the football. They average 213.7 rushing yards per game, and on every match they able to establish the run, their offense moved the ball smoothly. Instead, when they are forced to put the ball in the hands of Bo Nix, bad things happen.

Nix is going to be a good player later in his career, but right now, facing Alabama’s great defense is a mismatch for him. The Tide should dominate that side of the ball and force the freshman quarterback to make mistakes.

Auburn has beaten Alabama just three times in the last ten games. Yet, two of those wins were at the Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Alabama vs. Auburn College Football Prediction

This is not the same scary Alabama team that we are used to seeing every year, but they still are an excellent side. Everybody is counting them out after Tua’s injury, but they are good enough to leave the Iron Bowl with a solid win.

Alabama is not the best team in College Football, but right now, they don’t need to be. They need to take care of Auburn and wait for the other results.

I expect Bama to give us one of those old school performances where the defense dominates the entire game. The team is talented and will go against a freshmen QB that hasn’t seen an aggressive defensive unit like the Tide’s. Bet Alabama -3.5.

Our NCAAF Pick: Alabama -3.5
