Betting on the Alamo Bowl: Texas vs. Utah Betting Line & Pick

Alamo Bowl 2019 Betting Preview

The 2019 Alamo Bowl will wrap up a full slate of games on New Year’s Eve. This game will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio and will have a local team on the field.

The Texas Longhorns out of the Big 12 Conference should have plenty of fan support in this game. Texas will be taking on the Utah Utes out of the Pac-12 Conference, and these teams are extremely different.

The winner of this game will likely be the team that can establish its identity and pace of play.

Up-And-Down Campaign For The Texas Longhorns

Inconsistency” is the best word that comes to mind when trying to describe the 2019 season for the Texas Longhorns. Texas finished the regular season with a record of 7-5, and it lost three of its final five games.

The Longhorns finished Big 12 Conference play with a record of 5-4, and they were never really a threat to contend for the conference title.

Strong QB But Poor Defense

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger leads the way for the Longhorns, but he hasn’t gotten much help this season. Ehlinger has thrown for over 3,400 yards and also 29 passing touchdowns.

The Longhorns average over 34 points per game but have also allowed over 28 points per game. The defense has let this team down all season long

Utah Came Up Just Short

Utah finished the season with a record of 11-2, but its two losses will haunt it for a while. The Utes were one win away from playing in the College Football Playoff after winning the Pac-12 South Division but were blown out by Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Utah averaged more than 34 points per game this season while allowing just 13.2 points per game. The Utes have a roster that is suited for a bigger bowl game.

Key Players

Quarterback Tyler Huntley and running back Zack Moss both had terrific regular seasons in 2019. Huntley threw for close to 3,000 yards, and Moss led the team with 1,359 rushing yards.

Defensive end Bradlee Anae leads a stout defense with 12.5 sacks, and Utah should slow down an explosive Texas offense in this game. Utah dominated some great teams during the 2019 season, and it could do the same in this one.

Our Texas Vs. Utah Alamo Bowl Betting Prediction

The Texas Longhorns had lofty expectations heading into the 2019 season, but they fell short. Things have been rough for Texas of late, and it’s hard to see it having them all fixed in advance of the Alamo Bowl.

Utah is definitely the better team on paper, but it is going to have to find some motivation. The Utes were a blowout loss in the Pac-12 Championship Game away from playing in the College Football Playoff. Utah should put that loss behind it and dominate Texas in this game.

The best bet is the Utah Utes -7.0 (-110) over Texas in the 2019 Alamo Bowl.
