Arizona Bowl 2019: Georgia State Vs. Wyoming Betting Line & Pick
Arizona Bowl 2019 Betting Preview
The 2019 Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl will be one of the last bowl games to take place this year. You can watch this game on New Year’s Eve, as it is the fourth time the Arizona Bowl has been played.
This year will represent the first time that Georgia State and Wyoming will play in this game. It is also the first time that these programs have met to play each other. This should be an explosive matchup between two teams who have had very similar seasons.

Panthers Look To Claw Their Way To Bowl Win
Georgia State opened the season on the road against an SEC team and was able to secure a 38-30 victory against Tennessee. That win represented its best win of the season, but the Panthers were still able to finish 7-5 on the season with a 4-4 conference record in the Sun Belt Conference.
They will be looking to rebound after losing three of their last four games down the stretch, including a 38-10 loss to rival Georgia Southern.
Georgia State is led by running back Tra Barnett, who has 1,389 yards rushing and an average of 6.0 yards per carry. Both of those numbers led the Sun Belt, and he added 12 touchdowns as well.
The offense is averaging 446 yards per game and scoring for more than 32 points. Georgia State has shown the ability to produce long drives, as its third-down percentage ranks among the highest in the nation at 48 percent.
Cowboys Try To Run Panthers Out Of Stadium
Wyoming also comes into this game having lost three of its last four just like the Panthers. The Cowboys enter with the same 7-5 record while also starting their season with an upset win, over Missouri.
Strong running game, offense struggling
The strength of this team is the running game, as they average 209 yards per game, which is among the top 30 nationally. Xazavian Valladay is the team’s top running back, with over 1,061 yards on the ground this year. He has also been able to find the end zone five times this year.
The offense as a whole has struggled since quarterback Sean Chambers got injured, which forced Tyler Vander Waal under center. His passer rating is nearly 30 points lower than Chambers’, and he has a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 1:4 on a completion percentage of 51.
The defense is also a strength, as the Cowboys have only given up 17 points a game to opponents. This is all in part because their rush defense is holding teams to under a hundred yards a game. Both of those statistics rank Wyoming among the top 50 in the nation.
Georgia State Vs. Wyoming Arizona Bowl Betting Prediction
Despite both teams limping down the stretch, Wyoming has opened as a seven-point favorite. Georgia State provides the best bet to take here as Wyoming has just not been good on offense since Chambers went out with an injury.
Georgia State will be able to pass on this Wyoming defense, as it is the weakness of this team. I like Georgia State with the +7 spread and also straight up with the +220 odds.
