Blue Jackets Vs. Bruins Betting Predictions | NHL Divisional Finals Game 2
Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Boston Bruins Betting Preview
The Blue Jackets vs. the Bruins series is going to be a long one, so buckle up. After a fantastic Game 1, the Jackets and the Bruins are set to meet again on Saturday Night in what could be the best series of the second-round Stanley Cup playoffs. I don’t know what coach John Tortorella gave his team before the playoffs.
The Blue Jackets changed completely from what they were in the regular season. After sending home the team with the best record in the NHL, they feel like they can challenge anybody. Columbus had the lead with less than five minutes against Boston in Game 1. That lead eventually was lost, but the Jackets are here to give more than a decent fight.
After losing the first one of their second-round series against Boston, the guys making the odds at MyBookie.ag have Columbus +1000 to win the Stanley Cup. The implied probability of extending their winning run and lifting the cup is about 9% at this point. If they steal Game 2 on Saturday, then those odds will be cut a little.
Boston gained some sort of respect for Columbus on Thursday; not fear but respect. But even with that assessment, the Bruins remain the favorite to win the series and advance. This team has only one way to play, and that’s aggressive hockey. They outshot the Jackets 37-22 in Game 1; something similar should happen in Game 2.
The Bruins are -280 in the series price odds offered by MyBookie.ag. That’s a 74% of changes the oddsmakers are giving Boston to advance after winning the first game. Columbus is listed +230 with 30% of chances. Boston is the favorite to win the Stanley Cup out of the eight teams remaining in contention. We can find the Bruins at +300 to win the Cup at the end of the playoffs. The oddsmakers are giving the Bruins a 25% of implied probability to win it all. Unless Columbus wins the next two and puts the pressure on Boston, these are the best future odds we are going to get to bet on the Bruins.
In Game 1, Columbus found out they can challenge Boston. They do need a little more intensity and attack. While John Tortorella is a great coach at adjusting, I expect those changes to come in Game 3, and not so much on Saturday. Let’s ride with the favorites to win 2-0 in this series. Home-ice will be a key part of this series. Boston is too aggressive and fast at home to go any other way. What’s the play? Boston -145.
Money line: Columbus +125 vs. Boston -145
Puck lines: Columbus +1.5 (-235) vs Boston -1.5 (+190)
