St. Louis Blues vs Boston Bruins Betting Preview

So we earn some cash with the Bruins -155 in the money line in the first game. It wasn’t an easy bet as the Blues made us sweat a little when they got a 2-0 lead, but Boston had a quick answer. The Bruins actually looked like a storm in the second period. Boston outshot St. Louis 38-20 in Game 1. It was a response for the ages for the home team.

I have mentioned this a few times, and I’m going to do it again. The most significant advantage Boston has in this series is their Power Play production. The Bruins were the third best team in NHL in PP situations, and they capitalized in the first meeting. They created five Power Play opportunities and scored once. St. Louis instead had a one-man advantage just twice, and they didn’t score.

Every team that has faced Boston to this point believes they have a reasonable opportunity of containing the one man advantage situations. While it might be true, for the most part, the Bruins just need one mistake to tip the scale to their side.

Boston is now -175 in the money line to win Game 2. The odds at MyBookie are giving the Bruins a 64% of a chance to win the outing on Wednesday and going up 2-0. As mentioned above, they have won eight straight games at this point in the season. Their last defeat came on April 30 against Columbus. The crazy part is that happened almost a month ago, we are right in the middle of the postseason.

The oddsmakers at MyBookie listed St. Louis to steal Game 2 and even things out. That’s a 41% chances. There is a lot of respect on the Blues and how they have handled the postseason so far. But they were poorly outplayed by the Bruins in Game 1. They need to punch back and put the intensity level a little up to compete in Boston.

Will the Bruins or Blues Win Game 2?

We found the Blues +140 to win the series before the meeting on Monday Night. Now they are listed +250. If you believe St. Louis can outplay the Bruins in the next six games, then +250 doesn’t sound that bad to bet on to win the Stanley Cup.

However, I’m going to ride with the Bruins again in Game 2. They made a few dumb mistakes that allowed St. Louis to gain a 2-0 lead, but overall, Boston was by far the better team. If they clean up the mistakes, the win on Wednesday night should have a little less drama.

What’s the play? Boston -175.
