Bruins Vs. Blues Betting Prediction | NHL Stanley Cup Finals Game 4
Boston Bruins vs St. Louis Blues Betting Preview
It’s safe to say nobody was expecting the kind of beating the Bruins gave the Blues in Game 3. Not even the most hardcore Boston fans. St. Louis needs to bounce back on Monday night or the Stanley Cup could slip away in a matter of days. Playing at home may give the Blues a slight advantage, so betting on this NHL game will be interesting.
|Bruins at Blues Betting Odds|
|Teams and Odds||Moneyline||Puck Line||Game Total|
|Boston Bruins||-110||+1.5 (-300)||Over 5.5 Goals (+120)|
|St. Louis Blues||-110||-1.5 (+240)||Under 5.5 Goals (-140)|
The 7-2 win by the Bruins in Game 3 triggered a few bets very quickly. If you wagered on Boston you cashed in with the moneyline at +100, but also the puck line at +1.5 (-300). If you had the Over you hit another winner at -145.
When I said it was over quickly, I meant that the Blues didn’t even know what happened. The first period ended in a 3-0, and the Bruins never looked back. Just like in Game 1, the team was a storm; attacking from all angles. However, unlike any other meeting in the series, this time they were highly effective.
Boston scored all four of their Power Play opportunities. The Bruins were the third best team in PP situations all season, and they are riding that train during the entire playoffs. Giving Boston an extra man advantage is suicidal, and the Blues have done it way too often. The three goals scored in the first period completely took back the crowd and restored home-ice for the Bruins.
The people making the odds at MyBookie.ag are not willing to give the Blues the favorite stamp for Game 4. Both Boston and St. Louis are -110 in the moneyline with a 50% implied probability to win this contest.
The series price, however, does have a heavy favorite in the odds. Boston is now listed -330 to win the Stanley Cup after their massive win in Game 3. The implied probability of winning the series is currently at 77%. The Blues are +265 to pull a comeback with the series down 2-1. It’s the most significant value St. Louis has had since the start of this Stanley Cup matchup with Boston.
St. Louis has had two fatal flaws, so far, after three games. First, they have allowed Boston to e in Power Play situations way too often. I think that’s the obvious one, and we talked about it plenty in the previous picks. Second of all, they have been flat when having a one-man advantage. Only in Game 3 they were able to score their first PP goal of these Stanley Cup finals. It ended a 19 consecutive penalty streak killed by the Bruins. That stat tells you how dominant Boston is on special teams.
Either way, the odds are basically telling us to pick a side in Game 4. There is no edge in value either way, so it’s about choosing the right side. I can’t see St. Louis having another flat and disappointing night in front of their home crowd. They need this game or the dream is over. That should be enough to make them the right side to bet on.
What’s the play? Blues -110.
