Chelsea Vs Arsenal: Europa League Final Betting Prediction 2019
What better way to finish a fantastic season in the Europa League than with a London Derby in the final. Chelsea and Arsenal, two hated rivals, with disappointing seasons, could save the year by winning this game alone.
Chelsea Vs Arsenal – Europa League Final Betting Preview
Let’s start with the fact that these two hate each other. There is a very vivid rivalry between Arsenal and Chelsea. Neither has won any trophies this season, so far, and getting the Europa League trophy could be a great way to save the season.
Chelsea, in particular, had the most disappointing performance in the year. When they hired coach Maurizio Sarri they were looking to fight the English Premier League title with Manchester City and Liverpool. Instead, they ended 26 points behind City with a few embarrassing moments along the way.
This is probably the last game Sarri will coach as Chelsea’s manager. He hasn’t been comfortable in the locker room and has lost complete respect from his players. A video previous to the game shows him having a tantrum in the latest training session. That can’t be good.
To make it worse, the status of his best midfielder, N’Golo Kanté, is known. The French player is dealing with a knee injury and hasn’t trained with the team in the last sessions. Despite the recent bad news, Chelsea is the favorite to win at +127. The oddsmakers give the Blues a 72% of winning probability out of the three possible results.
Arsenal hasn’t been far away from controversy either. The Gunners announced last week that midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan won’t play the Europa League final due to political issues. Mkhitaryan is Armenian, and his country has diplomatic disputes with Azerbaijan, the country hosting the final.
If both Kanté and Mkhitaryan miss the final, Chelsea will be the team with the more significant loss. The French player is a crucial part of their path to success. The Armenian attacking player is excellent but replaceable.
Arsenal is listed +202 to win the final with an implied probability of 33% winning. The Gunners are not getting the respect they deserve by the oddsmakers. They stomped on Valencia in the semifinals with a 7-3 result. The team has enough quality on the attack with the two strikers Pierre Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in top form before the final.
When these two teams met in the English Premier League, the home team won each time. However, Arsenal played slightly better on both games, despite failing to win on the road at Stamford Bridge.
What these two teams have in common is both have pretty lousy defenses, with players that are not disciplined in their jobs. I expect a very open Europa League final with goals everywhere.
