College Football Week 4 Picks And Predictions

College Football Week 4 Picks And Predictions

The return of head coach Urban Meyer to the sidelines with Ohio State will be overshadowed by the fact that we have great games during the College Football Week 4. Nothing against Meyer, but talking about suspensions and off the field issues it is not as much fun as talking about point spreads, game totals and, of course, upsets. From the top teams, we have learned Clemson (0-3 ATS), and Notre Dame (1-2 ATS) haven’t been great sides to bet early in the season. Alabama (3-0 ATS), Georgia (2-1 ATS) and Oklahoma (2-1) have returned our faith in them with solid betting results at Sportsbetting.ag. College football picks are below and odds can be found at Sportsbetting – Don’t Miss 50% Up To $1000 Bonus.

22 Texas A&M Aggies vs. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide Prediction

  • Spread: Alabama -26
  • Total: 61
  • Date: Saturday, September 22, 2018
  • Game Time: 3:30 PM ET
  • Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL
  • TV: CBS

If you are already convinced Texas A&M will give Alabama all they can handle because they did just that against Clemson in week 2, then I have bad news for you. The Crimson Tide is alone at the top of the College Football world. Nobody is even close at this point. Alabama not only has covered the spread in the first three games of the season, but they have thrashed opponents while doing it. Remember when the Tide was all about the defense? Those days are over. Now is about the offense… and the defense.

Nick Saban is a defensive guru who happens to have recruited a game changer all-star quarterback. Sophomore QB Tua Tagovailoa has opened the offense for Bama. He has completed 72% of his passes while throwing 8 TDs and zero interceptions in the first three weeks. His ability to sling it changed the entire scenario for Bama in 2018. He’s averaging 12.9 yards per pass completed. The betting line opened with Alabama as a 23.5 point favorite, but it quickly moved during the week. It has been at 26-points over the past couple days, and it should stay that way when game-time hits the clock.

I’ve seen several people trying to sell the idea that the Aggies offense can play against Alabama and get them in trouble. Texas A&M is on a current cultural change under the new head coach Jimbo Fisher, but this challenge is not like anything they have seen before. Sophomore QB Kellen Mond has thrown six touchdowns and zero interceptions this season. I know Fisher won’t let him throw the ball 40 times as he did against Clemson. Alabama’s front seven is intimidating and will sure get pressure on him. Their secondary will eat a sophomore QB throwing the ball that many times. I’m not betting against Alabama until someone proves me they can hang on with them during a full game.

Army Knights Vs. 5 Oklahoma Sooners Prediction

  • Spread: Oklahoma -31
  • Total: 62
  • Date: Saturday, September 22, 2018
  • Game Time: 7:00 PM ET
  • Memorial Stadium (Norman, OK), Norman, OK
  • TV: N/A

Most of us expected a step back from Oklahoma’s offense as QB Baker Mayfield left to the pros. QB Kyler Murray didn’t let that happen. The junior has been outstanding, throwing 863 yards, 8 TDs while only turning the ball over once. He has added a rushing element to the Sooners attack with his ability to scramble and run. The more he gets confidence and poise, the more he becomes a nightmare for opposing defenses. Murray and the Sooners should have the same level of success this weekend. The only problem is they won’t see the field as much as they are used to. Army is a dominant running team with the only goal to control the time of possession to make opponents crazy.

When the line opened with Oklahoma at 32.5-point favorites, the bettors jump on Army, trying to get as many points as they could. The question is not whether the Sooners will win or not. It’s about finding out if they will have enough time to cover a 31-point spread. That’s where the line is now and where it should be when the game starts. Army averages 306.7 rushing yards per game. That’s the sixth best rushing attack in the nation. In their last two wins against Liberty and Hawaii, they dominated the time of possession by having the ball over 41 minutes both times. Oklahoma can and will score quickly, but that’s just bad news for their defense. Dealing with the Army rushing attack is exhausting and eventually will drain a team that’s not used to this type of physical challenge.

7 Stanford Cardinal Vs. 20 Oregon Prediction

  • Spread: Stanford -2
  • Total: 57.5
  • Date: Saturday, September 22, 2018
  • Game Time: 8:00 PM ET
  • Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR
  • TV: ABC

Oregon opened as a 1.5-point favorite at Sportsbetting.ag, but the betting line swung the other way over the past week. Stanford is now 2-point favorites on the road, but that’s dangerous territory. The Cardinal hasn’t shown to be a great bet as a favorite outside California. They are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite. This could be the trap game Stanford usually loses during the season. Head coach David Shaw hasn’t been able to record an undefeated season since he took over. These are the losses that leave the Cardinal outside of the College Football playoffs conversation. It’s not a surprise Stanford is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in September.

Oregon hasn’t covered the spread all season, so I’m not high on them either. The Ducks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 8-21-1 ATS in their last 30 games overall. Beating teams like Bowling Green, Portland State, and San Jose State will get you noticed, but it’s not good enough for me to trust them. I’m looking more towards the game total. Stanford is a team who loves a slow pace while attacking. Pounding the ball early and often is their style. Then their defense takes over and dictates the rest of the game. I don’t see many points from either of these two programs. Bettors have cashed out with the UNDER in 10 of the last 13 Cardinal games and in 8 of the previous 11 Ducks games against Pac-12 teams.
