Colombia vs England World Cup Picks – Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips
Both the Three Lions and Los Cafeteros have their countries behind them in a World Cup where both teams have already had some exciting matches. With England being knocked out in the Group Stage in the last World Cup, and Colombia never taking down the trophy, both these teams want more than an appearance in the Round of 16. My 2018 World Cup pick for July 3rd is below and the odds can be found at Sportsbetting – Don’t Miss
Colombia Vs England – Recent Form & Injury
The English rested much of their regular rotation against Belgium but didn’t need the points to advance past the group stage. They fell 1-0. Still, it may have stifled their excellent form in the first two games, where they scored a tournament-high eight goals and conceded just two. England had an injury scare with John Stones, but after being taken out early against Belgium – he is on track to start this one for the Three Lions.
Colombia had a rough start to the tournament after they fell 2-1 to Japan in their opening match. However, that was mostly due to an early handball, which led to a red card and a penalty. They played nearly the entire match with a man down and still managed to score a goal. They then managed to beat up on Poland in their second game by a score of 3-0 and managed to grind out a 1-0 defeat of a tough Senegal side. James Rodriguez came off for Colombia, but reports are coming out of training that he should be good to go.
Colombia pk, +1/2 (+103) Vs England pk, -1/2 (-123) Total: 2 goals
These teams are closely matched in the eyes of the oddsmakers and we haven’t seen a ton of movement on the handicap or 3×1 betting markets. England can be had a +117 to win in regulation with Colombia at +275. A tie within the 90 minutes, plus injury time sits at +210.
The Three Lions are full of talent, but when Colombia has had 11 men – they have yet to concede a goal in this World Cup. They should be able to limit their attack in this one and may end up blanking the English if continue to mark as they have so far. Defensively, they can also be had and the Colombians have plenty of talent to put up goals, including the size needed to come ahead when it comes to set pieces. I like them on the handicap and for an outright win in this one at around +300.
