The Field | Dreamhack Malmö 2019

The top four finishers from ESL One: New York, Team Liquid, G2, Astralis, and champions Evil Geniuses all arrive in Malmö for DreamHack. They are joined by ENCE and Optic, who also participated at the Barclays Center a week ago.

Among the other invitees to DreamHack Malmö are Fnatic, FURIA, Natus Vincere, North, and Team Vitality.
Team Envy, Grayhound, TYLOO, and mousesports appear in Malmö courtesy of regional qualifiers.

Team Optic rounds out the field of 16 via the DH Open Summer back in June.

A three-way rivalry between CS:GO pros

Liquid and Astralis are currently ranked first and second in the world, respectively, EG–who claimed victory at ESL One: New York last week (after purchasing NRG’s roster) are third.

DreamHack Malmö also features five other teams in the top 10 in Team Vitality (4th), ENCE (5th), G2 (7th), mousesports (8th), and Natus Vincere (9th).

Group Stage Dreamhack Malmö 2019

Group A

Group A is highlighted by Astralis, ENCE, Fnatic, and G2. Barring a total shock, expect three of the four to advance to the playoffs.

Astralis should be a lock and ENCE’s recent form suggests they will advance as well.

G2 recently made roster changes and they’re an unpredictable commodity at this point so the safe bet would be for Fnatic to round out the top three.

Group B

Group B is the stronger of the two and boasts Liquid, Optic, Natus Vincere, mousesports, and EG.

Liquid is coming off two early knockout-round exits but they’re still the world’s top-ranked team and will make it out of the group.

Evil Geniuses is riding high after their ESL One: New York victory. They may run out of steam at some point but it won’t be in group play.

Mousesports and Natus Vincere will battle it out for the third spot in the group. We’re going to give the edge to mousesports since Natus is still working through roster changes.

DreamHack Malmö 2019 Playoffs and Grand Final

The top team in each group gets a bye to the semifinals and our picks for those teams would be Astralis and a surging EG.

It’s tough to pick which teams will make it out of the quarters and into the semis because we don’t know what the seeding just yet.

We’re betting on Astralis and Evil Geniuses advancing to the final round.

Bet On Astralis Vs. Evil Geniuses Grand Final of Dreamhack Masters 2019

EG is literally hours removed from a tournament championship at ESL One: New York and they will likely breeze through the Group Stage.

Things may get tough in the semis for them. At some point, they may hit a wall.

EG doesn’t have the benefit of a honeymoon period after winning a title with a new org and Astralis will be seeking revenge.

The Dutch giants got past Liquid, 2-1, in the semis in New York and probably expected to win their second-consecutive Tier-S tournament, but they were denied by EG, who earned a shock 3-1 win in the Grand Final.

Astralis is the favorite at Pinnacle and most other betting sites because, like us, many are expecting EG to come up flat against a hungry Astralis side.

We look forward to more drama between these two moving forward but this round goes to Astralis.
