Duke Vs. Kentucky – NCAA Basketball Opening Day Betting Odds
Michigan State Spartans vs. Kansas Jayhawks Predictions
The second game of a Champions classic double-header on College Basketball Opening night has Duke and Kentucky clashing in what a should be a thriller. The game opened Kentucky as a 1-point favorite. At some point, you could have found it as a pick’em. And currently has the Wildcats as a 1.5-point favorite. The game total is at 156.5 points although it opened at a high 160 points. The game is enormous because these two teams are not only loaded, but they are the top teams at Mybookie.com to win the National Championship. Duke is listed as the ultimate favorite at +450 to win it all in March.
Kentucky is the second favorite according to the oddsmakers at +550. It’s that huge of a game. It’s weird to see coach Mike Krzyzewski leaning so hard towards the one-and-done freshmen experience. Duke was a different cat, but even coach K seemed to have a weak spot for recruiting these NBA talents. They have four 5-star players led by a trio of rock stars in RJ Barrett, Zion Williamson, and Cam Reddish. These three guys will fill arenas all over the country like ethe Michigan’s Five Fab did back in the 90’s. They are at the same level. Krzyzewski’s number one task is to manage his bench which doesn’t have the same talent. Yeah, those three names will carry most of the season, but there is a lot of questions about their rotation, especially early on.
Kentucky is, strangely enough, the opposite. Usually, they have the NBA names. This time coach John Calipari has seven form five-star recruits who are somehow willing to fit in the rotation. The Wildcats are deep enough never to lift their foot off the gas. Put an eye on center EJ Montgomery and freakishly athletic Nick Richards. Those will be a pain in the tail for any defense. Sophomore PJ Washington and freshman Immanuel Quickley, and Keldon Johnson will be hard to handle as well. This highly anticipated matchup will have a lot of individual star power on both sides. I just think coach K will have a bigger challenge putting his pieces together so early in the season. What’s the play? Kentucky -1.5.
