Eagles Vs. Rams Predictions – Sunday Night Football Betting Odds
The Philadelphia Eagles playoffs’ hopes are hanging in the balance and just like last season, their chances late in the year will go down in the hands of backup quarterback Nick Foles. The Eagles and Foles face a must-win game on Sunday Night Football when they meet the Los Angeles Rams.
MyBookie.ag has the Rams as a solid 12-point favorite at home. The betting line opened with LA as a 9-point favorite, but then the news of Carson Wentz missing this game hit and the line moved three points. 58% of the betting public is taking the Rams to cover the spread despite the significant number. The game total is at 52.5 points after it opened at 53.5.

What’s the latest Eagles’ betting form to face the Rams?
Repeating as Super Bowl champs is a hard task to accomplish, and the Eagles found out about it quickly. Too many things can go wrong fast and last year’s success won’t carry the team the next season. Philadelphia has been disappointing on both sides of the ball. The expectation before the year started was that this team was ready to go back-to-back. Now they are perhaps one loss away from missing the playoffs. However, their crucial game is on Sunday Night against Los Angeles. Then they will get the Houston Texans at home and a visit to Washington. Despite the Texans’ great form this season, the last two games for the Eagles remain winnable. The one against the Rams, not so much.
The Eagles’ number one issue in 2018 has been a mediocre offense. Philadelphia averages only 21.6 points per game and knowing how the top offenses have performed, that average won’t take you anywhere. Without Carson Wentz in the lineup due to a back injury, Philadelphia needs Nick Foles to save them once again. Foles began the season as the starter but was also part of the problem in Philly in 2018. He played the first two games of the year posting 451 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The team went 1-1 in those games, beating Atlanta while losing in Tampa Bay.
To make it worst he won’t have any help from their running game. The Eagles average fewer than 98.0 rushing yards per game and last week against the Cowboys they had a poor effort running for just 34 yards on the ground. The Eagles have covered the spread just once in the last five games. But this is the first time all season they are double-digit underdogs against anybody. The more significant number they had as an underdog was against the New Orleans Saints. Philly was a 7-point dog and ended losing by 41 points.
What’s the latest Rams’ betting form to face the Eagles?
The Los Angeles Rams are coming off their worst offensive performance of the season in the Sunday Night loss 15-6 to the Bears in Chicago. Not only did they fail to cover the spread as a 3.5-point favorite on the road, but they looked like a team without any ideas on how to move the ball against a great defense. Granted the Bears defense is one of the best in the game, but so is the Rams offense. Los Angeles was dominated from start to finish. QB Jared Goff had his worst showing of the season throwing for 180 yards and four interceptions at Soldier Field. Head coach and offensive play-caller guru Sean McVay didn’t do his job well either. McVay gave the ball to RB Todd Gurley only 11 times, and the tailback gained 28 rushing yards all night.
The Rams still average 32.7 points per game, which the third best league average this season, but that was an absolute shocker in Chicago. Like the Eagles, Los Angeles has only covered the spread once in the last five games. The Rams have been double-digit favorites twice this season, and they managed to collect both times. First, it was against Arizona at home early in the season and then, two weeks ago in Detroit against the Lions.
After hosting the Eagles on Sunday Night, LA will go to Arizona to face the Cardinals and then will host the San Francisco 49ers. Those last two games are very winnable. The Rams are waiting for a New Orleans Saints’ slip to get back to the top spot of the NFC playoffs seeding. Getting the home-field advantage in the postseason could be the difference between reaching or not the Super Bowl.
The play for the SNF game between Eagles and Rams?
Both the Eagles and the Rams have been disappointing in their own way this season. Philadelphia hasn’t even been close to the expectation of going back to back as Super Bowl champs. And Los Angeles has been a lousy bet all year. With that said I think 12 points against the current Super Bowl champions is too big of a spread. The oddsmakers are treating the Eagles are one of the worst teams in the league with that number. Yes, Philadelphia has had their issues all season, but they haven’t quit, and they still are in the playoffs race. There will be an effort to win this one.
Los Angeles as a favorite hasn’t been a bulletproof choice. I think Chicago gave us a blueprint last week on how to stop the Rams. I get that Philly doesn’t have the same defensive talent as the Bears, but their defensive unit is good enough to get a few stops. The Rams should win this game on Primetime, but the Eagles are plenty talented to keep this game within a touchdown reach. Take the champs with the points. Bet Eagles +12.
