What’s the latest Saints betting form to face the Falcons?

The Saints are the best team in the NFL. I think we can all agree on that. Unlike the Los Angeles Rams or the Chiefs, they can actually play defense. What they did to the Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles last week was jaw-dropping. New Orleans now has six games scoring over 40 points per game, including the previous three. That’s tied with the 2013 Denver Broncos for the NFL record with more games scoring 40+ points.

We knew the Saints had a great offense. We have known this since Drew Brees joined the team more than a decade ago. But this time Brees is playing the position to the perfection. He has completed 76.9% of his passes which is insane for 25 touchdowns and 1 interception. What makes Saints the top team to win Super LIII is they have allowed only 21 points in the last 2 games while scoring 99 points. Their defense has risen to the occasion. Last week, they intercepted Carson Wentz three times; they completely dominated Philly’s offense.

What’s the latest Falcons betting form to face the Saints?

Atlanta is a weird team. They can score in bunches, yet their defense is so injured I can only feel bad for Matt Ryan and the rest of the offensive unit. If the Falcons offense is not on a good day, the team has no shot. Ryan will be on the field pressured to keep up with Brees and company. The Saints are infinitely better than the Falcons, on both sides of the ball. But as cliché as it sounds, divisional games are a completely different scenario. Teams know each other well as they met twice a year. Players are familiar with trends, schemes and even the play-calling language of the opponents.

Laying down 13.5-points doesn’t come that easy for me; even if New Orleans looks pretty much unstoppable right now. Somehow I see the Falcons staying in this game because their offense has a lot of weapons as well. Over the last ten meetings between Falcons and Saints, just once was the final result more than a 14-point differential. It happened when Atlanta beat New Orleans by 16 points in 2014. Eight of the last ten meetings have been decided by less than a one score difference.

Don’t get me wrong, New Orleans will win this game because they are, as we know, the better team. But I’m not ready to bet a team to win by two touchdowns unless they play the Buffalo Bills or the Arizona Cardinals. Let alone when the matchup is a divisional meeting in Thanksgiving primetime. Give me the points even if I have to sweat all night. What’s the play? Falcons +13.5.
