Formula One Betting: 2018 China Grand Prix Prediction
The F1 show has moved to Shanghai, China for the third race of the season. The Silver Arrows have been undefeated there since 2014. Looking at the times from practice 2 we may be up for a surprise and the end of Mercedes’ domination. The Prancing Horse of Kimi Raikkonen was less than a blink of an eye behind Lewis Hamilton. The GP of China shapes up to be an interesting race full of excellent opportunities for placing online bets. We will be using Bovada Sportsbook to place our F1 bets this weekend.
Sebastian Vettel vs. Lewis Hamilton In F1 China Grand Prix
On paper, Lewis was supposed to win in Bahrain. Unexpected gearbox change and five places penalty, unfortunately, ended up any hopes for his win. Thou, one could argue that with Ferrari’s excellent disposition and a clear evidence of closing the gap in performance to Mercedes the team would have needed Lewis to perform a herculean effort to win there. We are back in China where more often than not it rains during the race and driving skills on the wet surface trump over any particular car performance advantages.

The Dark Horse Of 2018 China GP
The practice times suggest that it will be a two-way battle for the pole with Red Bull being off in third. Renault wins the accolade for best of the rest. Force India cars were a couple of tenths further back, with Toro Rosso ahead of Williams with Sauber bringing up the rear. Our contrarian bet for GP Bahrain, Daniel Ricciardo, has struggled in the practice sessions and despite his optimistic attitude about the performance of Red Bull cars, we don’t think that regardless of the track conditions on Sunday he will be in the fight for the win.
Our dark horse for the 2018 China Grand Prix is the Iceman himself, Kimi Raikkonen. If it wasn’t for the mistake in the pits during Bahrain GP Kimi was in the fight for the podium there. He has the years of driving experience in the wet and a car that was only 0.007 behind Lewis in the practice run. He does play the second fiddle to Vettel but if an opportunity presents itself to take the win he will not obey the team’s orders.
Formula One Pick: Sebastian Vettel +275
The Prancing Horse’s red color fits well with the Chinese believe that it symbolizes good luck. Will Sebastian need good luck to win China GP? It doesn’t hurt to have it but even without it looks like Vettel and his car should be in the fight for the top place on the podium. Without a doubt, Maurizio Arrivabene will show up with few aces up his sleeve to make it happen with ease.
If you want to be a contrarian, placing a bet on the dark horse, Kimi, +1100 would be our suggestion…
