Cleveland Cavaliers Vs. Boston Celtics Predictions
The Boston Celtics finished the regular season with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. Boston went 55-27 to end the year. The Celtics faced the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round and the series went the full seven games. Boston then met up against the Philadelphia 76ers and that series went five games. Now the Celtics are 3-0 at home in this series.
Cleveland finished fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 50-32 record. The Cavaliers played the Indiana Pacers in the first round and it took seven games before Cleveland moved on. Cleveland then faced the Toronto Raptors and pulled off a four-game sweep. Game 1 was held in Boston and the Celtics pulled off an impressive win. Jaylen Brown scored 23 points and Marcus Morris had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Love was the leading scorer for the Cavs with 17 points. Boston pulled off a 108-83 win.
The second game of the series was still in Boston and once again the Celtics ran away with it. Lebron James had a triple-double with 42 points, 12 assists, and 15 rebounds, but it was not enough. Jaylen Brown had another 23 point game and five other Celtics players had double-digit point totals. The Celtics cruised to a 107-94 victory.
Game 3 shifted back to Cleveland and it was the Cavaliers turn to put on a show for the home crowd. Lebron James led the way with 27 points, but this time James had help. George Hill, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson and Kyle Korver all had double-digit points. Cleveland had a 116-86 win. Game 4 was the closest game in the series as Cleveland won 111-102. Jaylen Brown scored 25 points for the Celtics. It was Lebron James who stole the show. He put up 44 points to lead the Cavs to a 2-2 series tie.
Cleveland Cavaliers +2 ½ (-110) Vs. Boston Celtics -2 ½ (-110)
The pivotal Game 5 went back to Boston, where the Celtics took a 3-2 series tie. Lebron James scored 26 and Kevin Love dropped 14, but no other Cavs player had double digit points. Jayson Tatum had 24. Al Horford had 15 points and 12 rebounds in route to the 96-83 win. Game 6 was taken over by Lebron James to force a Game 7. Terry Rozier scored 28 and Jaylen Brown had 27, but in the end it was not enough. James had 46 points, 9 assists and 11 rebounds. The Cavs ended up taking a 109-99 win.
The odds have Boston listed at a -140 money line, which as a home team is fair. Those odds imply that the Celtics are winning this game 58 percent of the time. Boston has been much better at home, but Lebron James has a very good history at winning in these games.
This Celtics team is quite young and beaten up. The young players on the team have taken turns stepping up though and it has led to this playoff run. With everything on the line though, I do not know how well they will hold up under pressure. The biggest question for the Cavaliers is the health of Kevin Love. Love is listed at questionable for Game 7. I believe that without Love, the Cavaliers do not have what it takes to keep up with the Celtics in Boston.
