Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards Predictions
Toronto were able to grab the top spot in the Eastern Conference after a terrific season. The Raptors went 59-23 this season. Washington grabbed the eighth and final seed in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards went 43-39 during the regular season. The Raptors have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead and Washington will look to get back into the series with a huge home win.
Raptors and Wizards split the regular season at 2-2. Each team won a game at home and on the road. The two teams matched up well and I believe that we will see the Wizards at least put up a fight in this 1st round matchup.
The 1st playoff matchup between Wizards and the Raptors was held on April 14. Washington put up a solid fight and even took a 4 point lead into halftime. Toronto ended up with a 114-106 victory. John Wall led the way with 23 points and 15 assists. Serge Ibaka was the Raptors leading scorer in this game with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
The second game was on April 17. Toronto had a huge first quarter in which they outscored the Wizards 44-27. The Raptors ended up with a 130-119 victory. John Wall scored 29 points for Washington. DeMar DeRozan dropped 37 points. Jonas Valanciunas had 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Toronto Raptors +2 (-115) at Washington Wizards -2 (-105)
Jodie Meeks will miss the game for the Wizards as he is serving his 25-game suspension. Fred VanVleet is questionable for Game 3. VanVleet has been battling a right shoulder contusion. The Raptors will hope to get him back as VanVleet plays a huge role coming off the bench.
The Raptors have been the better team through two games in this series, but the Wizards have not been completely outplayed. When a team is down 2-0 in a series and returns home, the team down in the series is typically able to win Game 3. I believe that these two teams will be no different. Washington is better than a typical eighth-seed in my opinion. The Wizards battled injury problems all season long, so now that they are healthy, I believe they have a chance in their first-round series.
The Wizards are -2 against the spread in this game, which suggest that this game will be close until the end. I agree with that, but two points is not a lot to cover. If the Wizards shoot free throws at the end of the game, they will have a chance to cover easily. On top of that, Washington has a better payout against the spread. I believe the Wizards will get an important victory in Game 3.
