Golden State Warriors Vs. Houston Rockets Predictions
The Houston Rockets finished the NBA as the top team in the entire league. Houston finished the season with a 65-17 record. Houston met the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round and knocked them out in five games. The Rockets then went on to play the Utah Jazz in the second round. Houston knocked Utah out in five games.
The Warriors have made an appearance in the last three NBA finals and now the Rockets are the only team in the way of Golden State going four straight seasons. Golden State finished the regular season with a 58-24 record, which put them second in the NBA. The Warriors met the San Antonio Spurs in the first round and won in five games. Golden State then faced off against the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round and won in five games as well.
Golden State won Game 1 by a score of 119-106. Kevin Durant dropped 37 points and Klay Thompson scored 28 points to lead the Warriors to the victory. James Harden dropped 41 points, but it was not enough to get the home victory. In Game 2 the Rockets were able to perform for their home crowd. Houston was led by James Harden and Eric Gordan who each scored 27 points. P.J. Tucker dropped 22 points.
Kevin Durant led the Warriors in points with 38, but it was not enough. Game 3 shifted back to Oracle Arena, where the Warriors put together a great team performance. James Harden led the Rockets with only 20 points. Stephen Curry scored 35 points and Kevin Durant dropped 25. The Warriors outscored the Rockets by 30 points in the second half in route to a 126-85 win.
Golden State Warriors -1 (-110) Vs. Houston Rockets +1 (-110)
Golden State and Houston finally had a close game in Game 4. The Rockets beat the Warriors 25-12 in the fourth quarter, which led to a 95-92 win by Houston. James Harden dropped 30 points, while Chris Paul scored 27. Curry scored 28 and Durant had 27, but it was not enough. As a team, the Warriors shot 39.3 percent from the field, which is terrible by their standards.
The Warriors had Andre Iguodala get injured in Game 3. Iguodala is questionable to return for Game 5. Golden State also had Klay Thompson go down with an injury in Game 4. Thompson is probable for Game 5. Patrick McCaw and Chris Boucher are both out for the season. The money line for this game has the Warriors listed at -115, which pegs them as very slight favorites. The Rockets are at home for Game 5, but Golden State has won in Houston once in this series. Houston is listed at a +1 spread, which makes the spread mostly irrelevant.
I believe the Warriors are the better team and if they can put a full four-quarter performance together, then they can win Game 5. Golden State is coming off a loss and the last time the Warriors lost back to back games in the playoffs was the 2016 NBA Finals. I believe the Warriors continue to bounce back after victories with an important Game 5 win.
