Free NBA Expert Picks for Tonight (Nov 20): Timberwolves vs Hornets Prediction
The NBA has eleven games on Monday night. The NBA season has been off to a fast start with quite a few surprises. The Celtics will have a chance to extend their winning streak, while Oklahoma City is looking to get back on track after struggling early in the season. Here is my best bet for November 20 NBA games. Odds can be found at BetOnline.
Minnesota Timberwolves +1½ (-110)* at Charlotte Hornets -1½ (-110)
The Timberwolves have been excellent on the new season. Minnesota has started of 10-5, which has placed them third place in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves are only two games back from the first place Rockets. As for Charlotte, they have gone 6-9, which has them tied for twelfth in the Eastern Conference.
The Timberwolves beat the Hornets earlier in the season 112-94. Minnesota had a dominant second quarter, which in the end led to their victory. In the second quarter the Timberwolves outscored the Hornets 40-23. Andrew Wiggins led the team with twenty points. Jamal Crawford and Gorgui Dieng each had fifteen points off the bench.
The Timberwolves seem to have a big-three in the making with the addition of Jimmy Butler in the offseason. Butler has played well with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins on the new season. Towns has been the biggest game changer for Minnesota as he averages a double-double with points and rebounds on the season. Jamal Crawford has played a big role coming off the bench as well. This is Crawford’s first season with the Timberwolves. He was with the Los Angeles Clippers last season.
Kemba Walker has led the Hornets in points per game on the new season with 23.5. Dwight Howard has provided an average of a double-double with about 14 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game. Howard’s free throw percentage has been awful on the season. He has made only forty percent of his shots from the charity stripe. The Hornets have gotten Nicolas Batum back for the last three games. He has added an average of 12.3 points per game to go along with 5.3 assists per game.
Minnesota will be entering this matchup after hosting the Pistons Sunday night. The Hornets last game was a 102-87 win against the Los Angeles Clippers at home on Saturday night. The win against the Clippers ended a six-game losing streak for the Hornets.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Charlotte Hornets Prediction
Fatigue could be a factor in this matchup, but the Timberwolves have done alright in back to back games this season. The Timberwolves are 1-1 in the second night of a back to back. If the Timberwolves big three can continue to gain chemistry together, Minnesota should be able to overcome any fatigue to win in Charlotte on Monday night.
The Timberwolves have proven to be the better team this season. Minnesota has put themselves among the elite teams in the Western Conference. Charlotte has struggled this season in the Eastern Conference, which is the weaker of the two conferences. As an underdog in this matchup I believe the Timberwolves are the better bet. In a game that is likely winnable for the Timberwolves, getting an extra 1 ½ points makes for a good bet.
