Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots Prediction
The Titans trailed the Chiefs by a score of 21-3 but rallied in the second half with a big scoring run and did not allow Kansas City to score another point to grab a 22-21 victory. It was quite the upset, especially at Arrowhead. Injury wise, the underdog Titans came out with no issues. DeMarco Murray will not be available for Saturday’s contest, but Derrick Henry had a huge game filling in as the full-time starter last week.
The Patriots did play their starters in Week 17, as they still needed a win to secure home-field advantage throughout the postseason. They easily took care of the Jets by a score of 26-6 to finish the season 13-3. They had a bye in the Wild Card round. The bye was critical for New England, as they had many injury issues. Wide receiver, Chris Hogan, has not been active since Week 9, is now off the injury report and expected to start. Running backs, James White and Rex Burkhead have both been out the past few weeks, but are tentatively expected to play. However, they may be limited if they suit up.
Betting Action – Odds On The Patriots
The Patriots have gotten the lion’s share of bets so far. Over 70 percent of tickets are coming on the defending Super Bowl Champions. The odds have bounced around from -13 and -13.5. The total has risen from an opening number of 47 points to 48 or 48.5 at most sites.
Tennessee Titans +13.5 (-115) at New England Patriots -13.5 (-105)
I’m shocked the Titans beat the Chiefs, but their run certainly ends in Foxboro this weekend. However, the real question is how much will the Patriots win by? I’m willing to bet that it’s going to be a lot. This line may get closer to -14 or more as the weekend approaches and the public puts more money behind Tom Brady and Company. It’s rare for me to love a public side this much, but the Titans might as well stay home.
Not only did they overachieve last week, but New England also returns a host of offensive starters which should help them score more efficiently. Lay the points with the Patriots in this one and take it early before the line creeps up to -14 or worse this weekend.
Pick: Patriots -13.5
