Free NFL Playoffs Wild Card Expert Picks – Falcons vs Rams Predictions
The Falcons-Rams will be one of the more anticipated games this weekend. Atlanta is back after blowing a huge lead in last year’s Super Bowl. Los Angeles was a trendy pick to win the NFC West this season under first-year coach, Sean McVay. My NFL wild card football expert pick is below and odds can be found at Sportsbetting.ag. Atlanta Falcons vs Los Angeles Rams Predictions
The Falcons punched their ticket to a postseason that features 3 NFC South teams. In Week 17, they finished off their season by beating a divisional rival, the Panthers, by a score of 22-10. Atlanta ended with a 10-6 record in what was a tough NFC. Guard Andy Levitre will be out on Saturday after trying to gut it out last weekend, but only being able to play a few snaps. He is now on injured reserve. Wide receivers Taylor Gabriel and Julio Jones were on the injury report earlier in the week, but are now off it. The same goes for running back, Devonta Freeman.
The Rams ran away with the NFC West and were able to rest their starters in Week 17. They lost the game, but still finished with an excellent 11-5 mark. It was quite the turn around from a year ago, with a mostly similar roster when they finished 4-12. The Rams don’t have injury concerns. Only wide receiver, Mike Thomas, is on the injury report and he’s one of the last guys off the bench.
Betting Action – Odds On The Rams
The Rams opened at -5 and moved to -6 at most sportsbooks before dropping back down to -5.5. Betting tickets wisely, the action is right down the middle on these two teams. The total opened at 49.5 has come down to 48 points despite over 65 percent of tickets coming in on the over.
Atlanta Falcons +5.5 at Los Angeles Rams -5.5 Total: 48
I prefer the Falcons at +6, but that may not be available. However, I do think they have a chance to win this game outright, making +5.5 an easy bet and have some interest in the moneyline, as well. Quite simply, they’re being underrated in this spot.
The Rams are the shiny new toy in the room, but Atlanta is a team that is coming off a Super Bowl and is facing an L.A. defense that hasn’t been dominant in many areas, except up front. The Falcons can move the ball through the air against any team in the league, and they don’t even need Julio Jones. Freeman and Coleman both are excellent receivers and have been getting more involved in the offense lately.
Also, let’s not forget about the Falcons’ defense which has quietly played extremely well this season. They’ve held top offenses to under 20 points several times this season and are in good current form, coming off a performance where they held Cam Newton and Carolina to just 10 points. Take the points, grab the moneyline, RISE!
