Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs Prediction
Many have called the Titans the worst team to make the NFL’s postseason – that’s an assessment I would agree with. Tennessee stumbled into the postseason, edging out the Jaguars in the AFC South by a single game to finish with a 9-7 record. They’re the 5th seed in the AFC, only in front of the Buffalo Bills, which snuck into the playoffs after the Bengals upset the Ravens.
The Titans won their final game of the regular season against the visiting Jaguars by a score of 15-10. For the most part, they’re healthy. Running back, DeMarco Murray, missed last week’s game with a sprained MCL and has once again been ruled out for this contest. Derrick Henry will get all the work he can handle out of the backfield this week.
Kansas City started the season off on an undefeated run, but faltered at the midway point, only to regain their early season form in the final weeks, rattling off four straight wins to end the year. The Chiefs sat their starters in Week 17 but still managed to beat the visiting Broncos by a score of 27-24. KC edged out the San Diego Chargers to win the AFC West by one game and finished the year with a 10-6 record, making them the 3rd seed in the AFC. The Chiefs have a few nagging injuries to some minor skill players, but everyone is still expected to suit up. They come into the postseason as one of the NFL’s healthiest teams.
Betting Action – Odds On The Chiefs
Bettors have favored the Chiefs, but not by a massive margin. However, the odds have moved heavily in the home team’s favor. KC opened at -7 and has now moved to -8 or even -9 at some spots. The under has seen the most action so far but hasn’t moved off the 44.5 opener at most spots.
Tennessee Titans +8 at Kansas City Chiefs -8 Total: 44.5
If you managed to grab Kansas City at -7, congratulations, you got a great line and one of the best bets this weekend. At -8 or more, it becomes a tougher situation. I still wouldn’t place a bet on the Titans, unless this one got to +10 or more.
However, the total is a bit more interesting. Both offenses are extremely run heavy and happy to play the field position battle. Defensively, they have also played better in recent weeks, with the Titans unit being a bit underrated over the final month of the season. This one might get better as we get closer to the weekend, but I like the under 44.5 points.
