Free NFL Week 14 Expert Picks – Seahawks vs. Jaguars Prediction
The late afternoon matchup between the Seahawks and the Jaguars pits a perennial contender in the NFC versus one of the up and coming teams from the AFC. This game is critical for both sides as we get closer to the postseason. Both teams look likely to make the playoffs, but it is far from a lock with where their records are currently. Seattle Seahawks vs Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction
Seattle’s Russell Wilson is at the front of the MVP conversation and for good reason. With the Seahawks defense without many key pieces and their running game struggling, its been all Wilson. He led them to a big win against the visiting Eagles last week, 24-10. The Seahawks are beginning to close in on the Rams in the NFC West, now just one game behind the division leaders, with an 8-4 record.
The Jaguars – Defensive Dominance
It’s been the defense for Jacksonville that has gotten the job this season. They’re tops in just about every category, but especially dominant in pass defense, fueled by the cornerback duo of Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye. Ramsey is questionable for this game but expected to suit up on Sunday.
The Jaguars have an identical record to the Seahawks at 8-4. They’re tied with the Titans in the division after taking care of the visiting Colts last week by a score of 30-10.
Betting Action – Odds On The Jaguars
This one initially opened with the Jaguars at -3, but that has been bet down to -2.5 at every major book. The total opened at 39.5 and has moved slightly to 40 points. It still can move but I am confident that it won’t affect my call so I am sticking with Seahawks as my NFL pick.
Seattle Seahawks +2.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars -2.5 Total: 40 points
This is a good spot for Seattle. They didn’t exactly have to expend a lot of energy to take care of Philly last week, and I am not worried about them not getting up for this game in a matchup where they can easily win.
Let’s remember that this is still Blake Bortles against the Seattle defense. The Seahawks run defense had some hiccups to start the year, but lately, they have been dominant. This will likely force Bortles to beat them through the air. The Seahawks have plenty of injuries, but this is still not an easy matchup for a turn over prone passer with an injury-ridden, low talent, receiving corps. It may be worth waiting around to see if you can get +3 in this game, but I think they have an excellent chance to win the game outright, as well.
