Free NHL Bets and Picks for Tonight (Nov 20): Winnipeg vs Nashville Prediction
Another hockey weekend has come and gone. Now we start off the week with a packed Monday night. Six games fill the schedule Monday. Here are my free NHL picks for November 20. Odds can be found at BetOnline.
Winnipeg Jets +1½ (-245) at Nashville Predators -1½ (+200)
The Predators and the Jets are both sitting near the top of the Central Division. With St. Louis taking the top spot for now, Winnipeg sits second in the Central Division and Nashville is right behind in third. The Jets have a 12-4-3 record on the season. Nashville sits at 11-6-2.
Both teams enter the night playing some great hockey recently. Nashville has won six of their last seven games. The Jets have gotten at least a point in nine of their last ten. With both teams playing great in the last stretch every advantage could matter.
The Predators have now had Kyle Turris for four games after the blockbuster trade that sent Duchene to Ottawa. Turris made an immediate impact in his first game scoring a goal and adding three assists, but has not gotten a point since. The major impact Turris has made though has nothing to do with his play. With Turris taking over the second line center, it has taken pressure off Ryan Johansen. It has also allowed Colton Scissons and Calle Jarnkrok to excel in third line roles. These minor things have the Predators scoring at an elite rate.
Right now, the Jets are on a four-game winning streak, but only one of those wins have been on the road. The road win came against the Arizona Coyotes, who are the worst team in the NHL right now. Monday night’s matchup will be a real test to see if Winnipeg can sustain their success, even against good opponents on the road.
The Jets have been good largely due to Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck has a save percentage of .931 and a GAA of 2.27. Steven Mason has taken over the backup role, even though he was brought in during the offseason to become the starter. Mason has struggled posting a .892 save percentage and a 3.76 GAA. The Predators have not scored less than four goals in their last four games with Turris, so whichever goalie gets the start will not have an easy night.
Pekka Rinne has been playing at an elite level as well after leading the Predators to the Stanley Cup last season. Rinne has a save percentage of .922 and a GAA of 2.45. The Jets the backup goalie, Juuse Saros, has struggled as well. Saros has a .855 save percentage and a GAA of 3.93. Rinne is expected to get the start, which he would give the Predators a big boost in net.
Winnipeg Jets vs Nashville Predators Prediction
If the Predators can continue to maintain their scoring success against the Jets, I believe they will be able to win by a couple goals. The Predators have been a strong team at home recently and I believe that could translate into Monday night’s game.
