Free NHL Picks For Tonight (Dec 4): Islanders vs Panthers Prediction
Monday night offers a four-game mix after another busy hockey weekend. Many exciting games filled the weekend, but many more will be found this week. With two months in the books for the NHL, every game matters for positioning. Here are my free NHL consensus picks for December 4. Odds can be found at BetOnline.
New York Islanders (-105) at Florida Panthers (-105)
The New York Islanders and Florida Panthers meet for the first time this season on Monday night. Both teams enter after losing their last game. Florida has lost two straight, while the Islanders have won seven of their last nine. New York lost their last game. It was on Friday night against the Senators.
New York has gone 15-8-2 to get the fourth place in a difficult Metropolitan Division. The Islanders are one-point behind the third place Penguins, with one game in hand. Florida has struggled early in the season. The Panthers have gone 10-13-3 this season. Florida is seventh in the Atlantic, only above the Buffalo Sabres in the standings.
The Islanders have been led by a solid top three line. Josh Bailey leads the team in points with thirty points, twenty-five of those are assists. John Tavares is close behind with twenty-nine points. Tavares leads the team in goals with sixteen. Anders Lee is right behind Tavares with fifteen goals. In total Lee has twenty-seven points. Matthew Barzal and Nick Leddy each have surpassed the twenty-point mark to help the Islanders get to where they are.
Jonathan Huberdeau has been the leader for the Panthers. Huberdeau has scored eight goals and added eighteen assists. Aleksander Barkov has twenty-five points, while scoring nine times. Vincent Trocheck leads the team with ten goals and has added fourteen assists. Those three are the only ones to break the twenty-point mark on the season. Florida has needed more production from Aaron Ekblad. Ekblad has scored only three goals and nine points in twenty-six points.
Jaroslav Halak is expected to get the start for the Islanders. Halak has a save percentage of .905 and a GAA of 2.86. Halak has gone 7-6 on the season, but he will need to play at a better level if the Islanders want to get the win. While the offense has been the specialty of the Islanders, they can’t be expected to score four goals every game.
New York Islanders vs Florida Panthers Prediction
Florida will likely give Roberto Luongo the start in net Monday night. Luongo, despite the Panthers’ struggles, has been able to post a .928 save percentage and a 2.61 GAA. Luongo will be against a lethal offense on Monday night. It will be an interesting to see how the Islanders offense fares against the Panthers goaltending.
Each team is given an even chance to win this game. When looking at both teams closer the Islanders are the better team by quite a bit. While the Panthers have home ice advantage, the Islanders offense has been tough to stop this season. With two points on the line, I expect the Islanders to roll into Florida with a desire to win.
