Free NHL Picks For Tonight (Dec 5): Jets vs Red Wings Prediction

Free NHL Picks For Tonight Jets vs Red Wings Prediction

The NHL is busy again on Tuesday night. With ten games on the schedule, exciting finishes are going to be found throughout the night. I don’t believe the Winnipeg and Detroit game will be among them. Here are my free NHL bets for December 5. Odds can be found at BetOnline.

Winnipeg Jets -1 ½ (+210) at Detroit Red Wings +1 ½ (-250)

The Red Wings and Jets will meet for the first time this season on December 5. The Red Wings enter the night 10-12-5, which has placed them fifth in the Atlantic Division. Winnipeg has gone 17-6-4. The Jets have earned the first-place position in the Central.

Winnipeg enters Tuesday night winners of three of their last four. Winnipeg has won all three games by three or more goals. The Jets have been nearly unstoppable on offense as of recent. If the Jets can continue to play at an elite level, they should have no difficulty against Detroit on Tuesday night.

Free NHL Picks For Tonight Jets vs Red Wings PredictionThe Red Wings have been awful since hitting the twenty-game mark of the season. Detroit has lost seven in a row, five of those games at home. Four of those seven loses came by two or more goals. Last game Detroit played was in Montreal against the streaking Canadiens. Montreal pounded Detroit by a score on 10-1.

In the 10-1 loss, Detroit played both Petr Mrazek and Jimmy Howard. Both goalies allowed five goals. Jimmy Howard is expected to get the start on Tuesday night. Howard has been up and down this season up to this point. In total though, Howard has a .908 save percentage and a GAA of 2.94. He will need to bounce back in a big way if Detroit is to find success against the Jets.

Winnipeg’s starting goalie has been one of the best in the league. Connor Hellebuyck has a save percentage of .925 and a GAA of 2.31. Hellebuyck has gone 15-2-3. Hellebuyck took the starting job over after Steve Mason struggled early in the year. With the numbers Hellebuyck has been posting, he has put himself into the Vezina Trophy talk.

The Red Wings have not had a go-to guy in scoring this season. Detroit has had this issue the last couple of seasons and it has hurt them throughout the season. Dylan Larkin leads the team in points with twenty-three, but only four of those are goals. Anthony Mantha leads the team in goals with twelve. In total Mantha has twenty-two points.

Winnipeg Jets vs Detroit Red Wings Prediction

Unlike the Red Wings, Winnipeg has multiple top guys to count on. Blake Wheeler leads the team in points with thirty-five. Mark Scheifele is close behind with thirty-four points, and he leads the team in goals with fourteen. Patrick Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers each play a solid role. Both have twenty-one points. Laine has scored thirteen goals and Ehlers has scored eleven goals. The Jets have a lethal offense with four top guys.

Winnipeg is +210 when giving a goal and a half. That means Winnipeg is likely to win this game by two or more goals only thirty-two percent of the time. I believe Winnipeg wins this game by two or more goals forty to forty-five percent of the time. The Jets have one of the league’s best offenses. Detroit has not been successful for their last seven games and that is largely due to their play of defense. Detroit will need to turn it around, but I do not think they will be able to against the Jets on Tuesday night.
