Free NHL Picks For Tonight (Nov 30): Maple Leafs vs Oilers Prediction
November 30 has a little less than half of the NHL teams play. Seven games are on in total. Thursday night’s matchups could bring plenty of exciting highlights and upsets. Here are my best bets for Thursday’s games. Odds can be found at BetOnline.
Toronto Maple Leafs (-106) at Edmonton Oilers (-104)
The Maple Leafs will meet up with Edmonton for their first of two matchups this season. Toronto is in the middle of a three-game road trip. The Maple Leafs started out the road trip with a 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames. That win brought Toronto up to 16-9-1 on the season. Edmonton has won two straight, which ties their longest winning streak of the season. Edmonton has gone 10-13-2 on the season, which places them seventh in the Pacific Division.
Edmonton won their last game against Arizona in overtime. The fact that Arizona took the Oilers to overtime in Edmonton shows that Edmonton has had difficulty playing well at home on the season. The Oilers have gone 5-7 at home this season. Toronto has gone 8-4-1 on the road this season. The Maple Leafs have gotten a point in their last five games.
This game marks a battle between Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid. Matthews went first overall in the 2016 draft. McDavid went first overall in the 2015 draft. Both young stars have been huge additions to their teams. McDavid won the Hart Trophy last season, while Matthews won the Calder Trophy.
Connor McDavid leads the Oilers with thirty points. He has ten goals and twenty assists through twenty-five games. Auston Matthews also leads his team in points with twenty-four. Matthews has twelve goals and twelve assists through twenty-two games. Both players could have a big night against each other. It could also provide a very exciting game.
Cam Talbot has been the leader for the Oilers in net. Talbot has all ten of Edmonton’s wins on the season. Talbot has posted a .903 save percentage and a GAA of 3.00. Those numbers have led him to a 10-10-1 record. Talbot will need to step up on Thursday night if the Oilers want to get the win.
For the Maple Leafs, Frederik Andersen will likely get the start in net. Andersen has posted a .919 save percentage and a 2.71 GAA. He has a 14-7-1 record on the season. Andersen has been better than Talbot, but has not been great. Andersen could give the Maple Leafs the advantage they need in net.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction
The Maple Leafs could find a huge advantage on the power play in this game. Toronto’s power play has been very efficient, scoring on 21.79 of its advantages. The Oilers have struggled killing off penalties. Edmonton has killed off a league-worst 73.17 percent of their opponents’ attempts. If Edmonton continues to struggle the Maple Leafs could cash in on that advantage.
This game is listed at a near fifty-fifty chance with the money line. The Maple Leafs are given the slight advantage, but I believe the Maple Leafs should be closer to fifty-five percent in implied odds. The Maple Leafs have clearly been the better team this season and I believe the Maple Leafs will get the win Thursday night.
