Nashville Predators vs Dallas Stars Prediction
The Predators are in a three-way tie for first place of the Central Division. Nashville, Winnipeg and St. Louis all have forty-six points so far this season. Nashville has gone 21-9-4. Dallas is in fourth place of the Central Division. The Stars own a 19-14-3 record. Dallas enters the night after getting a huge win against the Blackhawks at home on Thursday night. Dallas was tied with Chicago in points, but the win gave them a two-point lead. The Stars ended up winning 4-0. Nashville has lost their last 2 games. The Predators have not lost 3 in a row all season long.
The Predators and Stars have met twice this season. The first game between these two teams was held in Nashville. The Predators won the game 4-1. Samuel Girard and Filip Forsberg each had two points and Pekka Rinne turned away thirty of the thirty-one shots taken on him. The second matchup was in Dallas. Nashville took that game as well, by a score of 5-2. Mattias Ekholm, Calle Jarnkrok and Kyle Turris each had two-points. Juuse Saros was in net. He turned away forty-three of forty-five shots.
Pekka Rinne is expected to get the start in net for the Predators. Rinne got pulled from Thursday nights game after allowing four goals on six shots. It was the first time Rinne got pulled this season. He has put up great numbers all season. He has a .923 save percentage and a 2.50 GAA. If Saros gets the start in net, he can perform at an elite level as well. Saros has posted a .920 save percentage and a GAA of 2.62. Ben Bishop is expected to play for the Stars. Bishop has consistently been solid in net for the Stars. He has posted a .911 save percentage and a 2.65 GAA. Kari Lehtonen could get the start as well. It is unlikely that he starts, but if he does, Lehtonen is not as consistent as Bishop. Lehtonen has a save percentage of .907 and a 2.59 GAA.
Nashville Predators (+109) at Dallas Stars (-120)
Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn continue to lead the Stars in points. Benn and Seguin have thirty-one points each. Only two other players have passed the twenty-point mark for Dallas. Filip Forsberg leads the Predators in points with thirty-three. The real key to the Predators offense though is their depth scoring. Nine players on Nashville have surpassed the twenty-point mark this season.
Nashville has been successful against the Stars this season because they have a better scoring lineup and the better goaltenders. Nashville can toss just about any line out there, and they will still be able to outplay the Stars. The Predators can also put any goaltender out there, and that goalie can be the best on the ice. As an underdog in this game, I like the Predators.
