Free NHL Picks For Tonight (Nov 22): Flames vs Blue Jackets Prediction
Wednesday is the last day of hockey until after Thanksgiving. To make sure fans get the most of it, there will be fifteen NHL games on. The St. Louis Blues will be the only team not playing on November 22. Here are my free bets for Wednesday, November 22. Odds can be found at BetOnline.
Calgary Flames (+138) at Columbus Blue Jackets (-153)
The Flames are coming into Wednesday’s matchup hot (pun intended). Calgary has won four of their last five games, and seven of their last nine. The Flames are on a two-game winning streak after Detroit embarrassed them 8-2 on November 15. In total, the Flames hold third place in the Pacific Division with a 12-8 record.
Columbus has been off to a good start on the new season as well. The Blue Jackets were a surprise last season finishing third place in a good Metropolitan Division. This season the Blue Jackets have jumped out to a 13-7-1 record. Columbus is in first place of the Metropolitan Division right now.
The Blue Jackets enter the night on a four-game winning streak, but this comes after losing four in a row. During the four-game winning streak the Blue Jackets have beat the Sabres, Rangers, Canadiens and Red Wings. All four teams have lost more games than they have won. None of the victories have shown the Blue Jackets are out of their slump. The real test will be against the Flames.
Calgary has been riding the hot streak of Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau has scored in six straight games and had a point in ten straight. He has eight goals and eleven assists in that ten-game span. Gaudreau has ten goals and twenty-one assists on the season, which is putting him in elite company. He is third in the league in scoring behind only Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos of the Lightning. If Gaudreau can continue putting up points, Columbus could be in trouble.
The Blue Jackets highest scorer is Artemi Panarin with fifteen points. Oliver Bjorkstrand, Zach Werenski, Seth Jones and Josh Anderson are the four other players to score ten or more points. Columbus relies on even scoring throughout the lineup. The scoring has been successful, but they lack a player who can take the game over when needed.
Columbus’s best player has been two-time Vezina Trophy champion Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky has put up excellent numbers for another Blue Jacket’s campaign. He has posted a save percentage of .933 and a 2.02 GAA. Bobrovsky will likely get the start in a pivotal match before Thanksgiving.
Mike Smith has been very good for the Flames as well. Smith was brought in to hopefully fix the Flames goaltending issues and he has done just that. Smith has a .922 save percentage and a GAA of 2.61. If Smith continues to put up numbers like that the Flames could be serious Stanley Cup contenders.
Calgary Flames vs Columbus Blue Jackets Prediction
The Blue Jackets have spent a lot of time as favorites recently. Columbus has been favored seven games in a row. This will be Calgary’s third straight game as a road underdog and they have delivered in the first two games. As a -153 money line, the Blue Jackets are expected to win this games sixty percent of the time.
Calgary has been a good team of late and Johnny Gaudreau has been tearing goaltenders apart. I believe that at most the Blue Jackets have a fifty-five percent chance of winning. As a large underdog in this game, I believe the Flames are a great bet.
